#223 of 338 What do we do about the consistent leaks? by duvill

If GM isn't willing to handle this on a per customer basis and keep pretending like there is no problem, then how about a class action lawsuit against GM? I'm sure this is something the attorneys would love to get their hands on. I just had the sound to my stereo fail along with the turn signal and back up assist sound. This all after the eight leak repair atempts that did nothing. The dealer is now not returning my calls. I bet they're just as sick of the issue as I am. I am going over there right now to give them one more chance to remedy the situation and if they don't then it's time to make some noise!

I agree, GM told me that they are not going to repair my radio, back up assistant light and all because the vehicle is out of warranty.

However, it is not our fault that the vehicle has this issue. they should fix the radio's and anything that was messed up as a result of the water damage.

#225 of 338 2007 Acadia is also gushing water by acadiakoipond

Hi,

After reading all of the posts on this topic, I am very discouraged. I too am experiencing this same problem with water leaking profusely. I vacuumed out over a gallon of water from the floor after a recent rainstorm. I have had this sent to the dealer 4 times so far and have another appointment for next week. They are doing everything they can to resolve, at no cost to me, even though the vehicle is well out of the factory warranty. It has 97k miles and otherwise is in very good condition. I certainly don't blame my local dealership but I do think that GM needs to own up to the problem. Suggestions are welcome on how I can get GM to take ownership and not put it off on my insurance company to solve.

#227 of 338 steering problems and electrical by scottpar28

Thank god i don't have a sunroof, or i would be having more problems. i bought a used 2010 from rental company and have had many problems since then. I first noticed that the Radio would not turn off when I opened the door, but correlated with the (condensation)water dripping being the gas petal. Then eventually the window locks were possessed by going up and down by themselves. This including the lights of ABS and engine lights going on and the truck wound accelerate. Dealer couldn't figure it out with all those CODES until I put the screw to them through calling up GMC directly. After a few days of looking at it, some wires were getting water on them and shorting. Funny they found out that the CB boot was messed up and guess what>>>> the bushing to the steering needed to be replaced. Since they fixed it, the truck doesn't have the major electrical problems, but when its humid and AC is running, the radio still wont turn off. Happened 2 times today. I get a banging sound or something in that Steering area and of course it wont reproduce when im at the dealer. I loose power steering if i brake and turn left medium hard into a parking space, that's something new and tells me that will be fixed at some point (im not paying for it)
Since reading this forum and knowing that there is a problem with the whole steering area, GMC/buick dealership and GM knows there is a major problem and there has not been enough deaths to have a recall yet. I can highly bet that all these recurring problems they are having with this truck (MPG, transmission, steering, sunroof leaking, drains) will be fixed in the newly redone model coming out in a few weeks.
I love the car and the Ride, and i told myself after my horrible Saturn experience i would never buy another GM Product. (My Honda Odyssey is 7 years old, 78k and replaced tires and brakes)

I have a 2007 Acadia. As soon as it came out I knew I wanted one, it was beautiful. We are a one income family so we obviously were not going to be able to afford a brand new one. I traded in my fully loaded GMC Envoy (which I loved) for my 2007 Acadia SLT. I gave up a few options but to have my "dream car" it was totally worth it to me. The excitement has been quickly fading though. I noticed right away the first time I cleaned my car that there was rust in places that concerned me. After every rain there was always a funky smell in the car but I hadn't noticed where the water would be coming from. I don't drive a lot especially since the kids had been in school for the first 6 months that we owned the vehichle so it was rare that I would actually be in the car when it was raining. Since school has been out we have been spending a lot more time in the car though and this is where we started to notice the problems. After loading everyone up and taking off to head to gymnastics the kids start screaming in the back that they were getting wet, I pulled over to see water streaming out of the DVD player and lights on the the roof soaking both kids! It poured rain the rest of the night and the next morning I went out to check the rest of the car out. The front floorboard were pooling with water under the mats and there was residual water leaking out of the entertainment system on the roof. It was a Sunday so the dealership service dept. was closed all I could do is open up all the doors and lay the mats out to dry. We got an appt. for that Wednesday to have the car checked at the local GM service dept. They were very accomodating, they set me up with a rental and my car was ready to be picked up later that same day. They said the sunroof drain tubes were cleaned out and they also had performed a recall on the low beams and I was good to go. Fast forward to Friday evening and it is pouring rain again, no signs of water from the roof this time but that usually doesnt show unless I am actually driving, but the front floor board are soaked again. During the rain I got in the car and could see water streaming down from under the dash on both sides. I called the service department again and have another appointment on Wednesday of this week but the service advisor said there wasnt really anything else he thought they could do but they would look at it again. He said they may refer me to a water specialist but he is over an hour away. I did a ton of research on this car before I bought it but apparently not quite enough. I love everything about my Acadia except of course this leak and the horrible horrible smell that comes with it. Now I am very concerned that there is mold and mildew in my vehichle since my 5 year old has severe asthma. I don't want my car to be a health hazard to her. I have been reading so many stories similar to mine and am starting to loose hope already, I have not yet seen one person say that the leak has been completely resolved.

#230 of 338 In the same BOAT by jennifer1307

I really wish I had seen this forum before buying my 2007 Acadia. It has been leaking since we bought it. The first time it happened we took it in to be fixed and it was still under warranty and the dealer didn't charge us. Then it kept leaking but we couldn't take the time out to go get it fixed until recently. The dealer wanted to charge us $250, but luckily we talked him out of it.

Now, we are having electrical issues. If I could afford to get rid of this car I would.

Hi frzdawn,

I had the same problem about a year ago. I believe there is a recall that adds some splash covers in the wheel well area that block water from coming up onto the serpentine belt.
