#115 of 330 Another 2008 Acadia Water Leak

Hi,
After reading post after post, watching you tube videos, and viewing other forums...obviously we are not the only ones with water leakage in our 2008 Acadia.
We purchased our Acadia in June. We went from a sedan to something more accommodating for our family of five. My husband has his own manufacturing company and has felt the effects outsourcing to different countries for labor & material. We have become strong advocates to purchase American Made products, which was the biggest reason we purchased the Acadia. As one person said we were planning to keep this vehicle for 6+ years. We have loved the Acadia so much that we planned to continue to stay in the GMC Acadia family for years to come.
Unfortunately, our plans are changing. A few weeks ago I saw some water dripping down on the driver side floor. I thought it was from my shoes that were wet from the rain. Then a couple of days later I saw some water come out of the driver side air bag on the top left. I thought it was just a fluke or something so didn't pay much attention to it. Well, yesterday we definitely had our fill of water leakage from a heavy rain we were experiencing. Water was leaking out of both upper side air bags on the driver side and passenger side. Water was leaking at the same place on the floor on the driver side and then I looked on the passenger side and it was leaking there too! Now, above the air bag on the driver side it is sopping wet.
I have attempted to attach a picture several times, it shows up on the preview, but will not come up when I post. =(
We are taking our car in on Monday Nov. 7th. We will see if this gets fixed, but to be honest I don't have much hope after reading all the other stories. I will keep you all posted.

My guess is that your pic is on your computer and that's why it's showing up in your preview, but your pic needs to be hosted somewhere on the net for it to show up here. Tinypic.com is a quick and easy place to park the photo and you can link to it. Or try some site like flickr.com or photobucket.com.

Hi Steve,
I have the picture hosted with Photobucket, so it wasn't coming from on my computer. I could see it when I clicked preview, but when I post it didn't show. I will try again the html code and see if that works. Thanks

I picked up our Acadia today which had been at the dealers since 10/27 for it's second attempt at leak repairs. I had in the meantime cut & paste "ralka's" replies to my post on locating the area for repair to my sales dealer. My dealer had then forwarded them to the GM tech doing the repairs and said it was a help in finding the leak(s). I was told that they dropped the headliner and could see the area and sealed "everything" up. The GM dealership did a water test and then my dealer did his own water test involving a ladder with a hose over top for almost an hour when he got our car back. There was no water. When I got home upon instecting the car, I noticed it was still wet under both of my front mats. This may have been from back when I brought in in on the 27th. We have lifted the mats and put the dehumidifier back in tonight to get it all dried out. The real test will be when the next rain comes.
Thanks again "ralka" for your point in the right direction. I at least feel like if GM is not going to develop a procedure manual for their tech or implement a service recall; we can help each other in a small way. My dealer said that he had to take another Acadia with 20,000 miles with the same issues to the GM dealer for repair. Since working on mine, they now have a procedure to follow of some sorts. I will post what happens after the next rain....fingers are crossed.

#124 of 330 Problem appears resolved

I wanted to reply and give credit where credit is due. Christina took care of us and referred us to another GM Customer Specialist who helped us get our '08 Acadia into a local dealer for inspection. A water leak (a substantial one) was located at the left rear corner of the sunroof, which had been running down the left A-pillar, into our instrument cluster, and onto the driver's side floor (soaking it during storms).
Paul Masse GMC in Rhode Island was very courteous, installed a new sunroof weatherstrip (bulletin #2407947) and fixed the instrument cluster at no cost, even with the vehicle out of the bumper-to-bumper warranty.
Disappointed that the problem existed in the first place, but more than happy with GM's response through this forum - thanks for al the help!
I certainly hope that others are meeting similar success.
Best,
Guy
