Dear Sarah, GM Customer Service

I think it's disgusting that you you are writing on this forum giving people hope that you can actually help anyone here, you have no power to buy these defective cars back, you have no access to anyone who has power to do anything and GM has no intention of doing anything.

To the unfortunate soles who are about to go through the oil consumption test, here is a glimpse into your future: you will be at your dealer so often they will know your face and name, they already know you car is burning too much oil, GM KNOWS YOUR CAR IS BURNING TOO MUCH OIL AND STILL PUTS YOU THROUGH THIS, GM just quietly released an ECM engine update to change the oil life calculation because they know the car is burning too much oil.

In the end if you have a really good service department they will fight with GM and make them replace your engine, otherwise they still strap some bandaids on it and Sarah from GM will message you again and say she'll get a district manager on it. Meanwhile Sarah knows a District Manager also has absolutely no power to do anything but offer a free oil change.

I feel your pain, I went through the same thing, I am lucky to have an awesome service department. My equinox now has a new transmission and new engine and GM was willing to spend more money putting bandaids on the car then the car is actually worth because they don't care, it's the same old GM just with taxpayer money now. Join the revolution, get a sticker that says NEVER BUY A GM AGAIN and drive around with it on your car and tell everyone you know STAY AWAY FROM GM.

Good luck to all.

Third update: This is getting ridiculous!! Dealer kept it overnight to make sure they got the leak fixed this time. All looked ok. Since getting it home, I have to check the oil every 500 Mi or so. It us usually down 3/4 quart but not leaking that I can tell. Also, now there is cream colored sludge buildup in the oil cap and on the end of the dipstick when I check the oil. I have asked GM customer service for help several times in this forum and have not heard a word. I am out of options. Keep taking it to the same dealer that can't seem to get it fixed or take it to a different one and have them try fix the other dealers mistakes.

The other thing to look for is gas in the oil - everytime I checked my oil it reeked of gas - and was discolored after less than 500 miles after an oil change... they did replace the fuel pump on the truck - that was before the new engine.
You are right - they are spending more money to band-aid these vehicles then they are worth!!!

#1828 of 2022 For sale: 2010 Equinox by bill9thrill

Car being towed as we speak. Funny since it was "fixed" 5 days ago. Hey Sarah at GM customer service, open up a case for me. I want to make sure I have a reference number when consulting an attorney. 4 tows to the dealer in 50k miles is a great way to live. My wife and children love being stranded. Ill accept all reasonable offers including a membership to the jelly of the month club.

Sorry, the for sale header was meant as a joke to show my frustration. It's been such a terrible ordeal.

I now have 8000 miles on my new engine so far so good no oil consumption. I also had a new fuel pump at about 50000 My equinox has never stranded me or had to be towed. I now have 100089 miles and I still like my car. My dealer and GM have treated me very good. The car has a few problems but so do a lot of others.
