To all of the unfortunate owners of a 2010 equinox, if you have any chance, GET RID OF THE CAR NOW. GM is apparently building cars for leasing only, because they don't last more than 3 years. I have owned Nissans, Mitsubishis, Hondas, all with more mileage on them than my 2010 equinox and have never had the problems i'm experiencing. I now have a 3 year old car with 50,000 miles on it that has a new transmission and new engine. The transmission failed first followed by 2 weeks later the engine failed. Between warranty replacement parts and loaner cars, GM has spent more money on this car than the purchase price. A note to everyone, GM has no intention of helping anyone out, the GM social media folks have no power to do anything to help you, district managers have no power to help you. The only chance you had was if you filed a lemon law case before your car had 24,000 miles on it. I filed a lemon law after the 24,000 mile period, the second I filed the case GM calls me and says they will do everything they can to help me, blah blah blah, the second the case was closed due to mileage being over 24,000 miles they called me to tell me the case is closed, they will do nothing. Luckily I have a phenomenal service department who has been helping me deal with Government Motors, but the second I get a chance to sell, trade, or give this car away I plan on it and I plan on never ever, buying a GM again. In all of my years of driving cars, this is the first car I have ever had to tow, the tow truck guy looked at me and was like "how in the world does a 3 year old car have a dead transmission". No one on this forum can offer any help, they have no power so stop giving people false hope SocialMedia folks. The citizens of this country bailed out this piece of garbage company and then bought there cars to help support the USA and what do we get in return, a big giant lemon that GM will not stand behind. If you have a 2010 equinox run, GM knows the car burns too much oil, they just quietly issued another engine software update to lower the mileage you change the oil at. They know this car is a lemon but they won't stand behind their cars and buy them back. GM has spent over $3500 is loaner car fees alone, I have been to local car rental place so many times for a loaner that they know my face and name, that is disgusting. The only good thing about getting loaner cars is that every time I get a loaner car it has to be a GM, dealer policy, I get to experience the rest of the crappy cars GM has to offer. Explain to me how I get better mileage in an Equinox than I did in a rental Malibu and Impala? Good luck to all the other equinox owners, stay strong, find a good service department, don't depend on GM customer service they have no power to help you.

I thank god everyday I leased this hunk of junk. Notice how BMW just did a big recall - GM - take a look at them and learn.....
The support for the NOX owners is pathetic. I think I will have big stickers made to put on this car for my last 10 months letting everyone know it is a hunk of crap and GM does not care!!!

i thought of doing same thing! A big magnetic sign on the back so ewveryone can read it while I sit in traffic. Last rep i talked to aske dme what I was looking for? i said something!!!! I want me deposit back on this car or I want a a few months of my car payment paid bc of how many service days my car has been in shop -I want a crdit towards another car etc..he said nothing they can do - my warranty has covered everything. I said not my sanity!! not my time! Oh and by the way - I PAY for the extra warranty. I asked to talk to someone at GM - he said theres no number to contact them. Imagine a business with no phones? Interesting. I sent my case to GMs PO box only to get a call from the same service rep at Chevy. They forwarded it to him again!!!! I also sent my case to the New york State Attorney General. And every few weeks i remind my 485 friends on facebook how much they should avoid GM and Chevy. Hopefully everyone of you has used social media to your advantage.

I know how you feel. We are at 50,200 miles and have had our Equinox towed to the dealer 3 separate times. We have an engine replacement at 42k, a fuel pump, cam actuatior, and I've now seen it all: this weekend the lemon won't start, just clicks. The battery was replaced 2 months ago so I was sure it wasn't that. After 25 minutes of sitting, I got it to start. I took it directly to the dealer and was told the key sensor was faulty. NOW I HAVE A CAR WHERE THE KEYS DON'T EVEN WORK?! They tell me they'll reprogram it from my spare key and I'm now out $119.
GM should be embarrassed of this product.

I have been doing the same with social media and will probably get the sign as I sit in tons of traffic!!!
I would be willing to split the remaining lease payments if they would take this piece of junk back.... but no - no offer on the table so I will spend the rest of my days making sure everyone I come in contact with never purchases a GM product again!

It is a wonder they would even think to charge anyone with one of these lemons for anything!!

Had the throttle body done Saturday, so far so good, but on Sunday the radio turned off then on again, then after a bit the radio turned off again, not lit up, just black display, heat and a/c still worked.. I just laughed and laughed, yet another potential problem?... then when I got home and shut the car off the radio came back up. Hasn't done it again yet. Anyways, my dealership was great, helped out alot with the cost of the throttle body replacement, i'm thinking of asking them for my own private room and chair since I just know i'll be back.

My dealer called and the car is ready for me to pick up this afternoon. Great job!!
The GM district specialist also called me and again the most/best I can hope for in all this mess is $500 towards a new car and/or a years worth of free oil changes, lubes and tire rotations. Am I happy about all this and the way I feel that GM just doesn't give a damn about me or other owners? Heck no, but it is what it is.... and I can buy from another manufacturer.
The $500 offer is an insult to my intelligence. I get a GM supplier discount already and I can get $500 off before I even have a serious chat with the salesman over pricing....
Is it enough to keep me as a GM owner? KMA GM.... I'll be buying someone else's product....
What kind of warranty have other 2010 Nox owners received? Just curious before I go to the dealer to pick up my car.....

I have not heard from Tyler, Aaron, or Tim (the district "specialists") in over 3 weeks. The last time I heard from someone it was the SAME SCRIPT of apologies but NO SOLUTION> I would have been happy if Chevy offered to send the local engineer but because I have 75000K miles on my truck (SURPRISE SURPRISE I DRIVE MY CAR!!) I am no longer WORTH GMs time. I know for a fact my local dealer has been a GODSENT and has preformed MULTIPLE REPAIRS (9 of them) trying to figure out this issue. They have also requested HELP but have yet to receive it.
Sarah-while you make NOTES in my growing case, please add to it that my 4 year old daughter has now been complaining of headaches and has a dull COUGH due to being in MY 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX INHALING FUMES!! I AM DONE BEING PATIENT>I WILL NOT ALLOW MY DAUGHTER R TO SUFFER!! SHE IS ONLY 4!!!
and YES I am YELLING!
Sarah-let me ask you something or ANY service rep from GM....would you put YOUR 4 year old in a car that smells like FUMES?? and you dont know what those fumes are?? and then they complain that their belly hurts? and YOU AS A MOTHER have to put them in that car seat day after day and tell them you'll open the damn window in 16 degree weather so that it wont hurt them??!!!
Please do not bother to pacify me with standard replies. PLEASE SEND SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THIS TRUCK INSIDE AND OUT TO FIX IT.

I still have my drivetrain of 5 years 100,000 miles. Most of my repairs have fallen under that. I did purchase the additional extended warentee for bumper to bumper with Zurich (?) and that expires after 85K. I have had the heater core, AC compressor both replaced under that warentee tryiong to "fix" my current issue.
Do you know what the worse part of this issue is? My 4 year old having to breathe the air in my truck. I will not give up until they fix my truck because LORD KNOWS I spent a fortune buying this one....Boy have I been screwed/
