#1803 of 2350 2010 2.4 cyl Chevy Equinox BIG PROBLEM
Feb 15, 2013 (11:55 am)
Hi-My name is Traci-I named my truck "Chuck" Chuck is sick--REAL sick. Chevy Case ID number 71-1135219519
11 visits to service with NO RESOLUTION to my problem.
a) Timing Belt
b) High Pressure Fuel Pump (TWICE)
c) Heater Core
d) AC Compressor
e) Changed the cover on the crankcase (?)
f) power wash engine
g) Carbon filter changed
GOD-I have lost count on the amount of work I have had done. Owning this truck as become my part time job. We are about to do the Valve Cover. No leaks, no puddles, no blue smoke. Just buring oil smell inside and around the running car during idle.
Chevrolet Customer Service thinks its ok for me to CONTINUE to own/drive a truck that releases the smell of buring oil IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT when the truck is
1.stopped at a light
2.warming up in the driveway
3.stuck in traffic
4. ANYTIME it is standing still
Oder is also OUTSIDE the truck.
They have refused to offer a Service Engineer because my truck has 70,000 miles and is NOT covered under the bumper to bumper.(this issue began over 6 months ago and about 5k miles or more) (I do have an extended bumper to bumper tho) They think I should TRADE my truck for a new one (AND take a LOSS on this one)
I am at my wits end. I have no resolution. My 4 year old HATES to get in my truck because "it makes her belly hurt
Chevrolet does not think my daughters safety is important enough. Please, Please, Please help. I am at a complete loss.
Donít get me wrong, I have owned and driven Chevrolets MY ENTIRE LIFE! This is my 2nd Equinox. (I had a 2008 that I traded when I got this one)
Help. I canít say it enough.

I am convincved that until someone dies - they will not do a damn thing!!!
I am so sorry for your daughter. This is my first and last chevy piece of crap - hoping to scrape together enough money together to buy another car and park this piece of crap until the lease is over and bring it back.
Funny you should mention the smell - my 11 year old son the other day mentioned how bad my truck smells with the new engine....
I give up - i cannot afford anymore time on this or I will loose my job and not be able to pay for the piece of crap....
Good luck to you

To all of the unfortunate owners of a 2010 equinox, if you have any chance, GET RID OF THE CAR NOW. GM is apparently building cars for leasing only, because they don't last more than 3 years. I have owned Nissans, Mitsubishis, Hondas, all with more mileage on them than my 2010 equinox and have never had the problems i'm experiencing. I now have a 3 year old car with 50,000 miles on it that has a new transmission and new engine. The transmission failed first followed by 2 weeks later the engine failed. Between warranty replacement parts and loaner cars, GM has spent more money on this car than the purchase price. A note to everyone, GM has no intention of helping anyone out, the GM social media folks have no power to do anything to help you, district managers have no power to help you. The only chance you had was if you filed a lemon law case before your car had 24,000 miles on it. I filed a lemon law after the 24,000 mile period, the second I filed the case GM calls me and says they will do everything they can to help me, blah blah blah, the second the case was closed due to mileage being over 24,000 miles they called me to tell me the case is closed, they will do nothing. Luckily I have a phenomenal service department who has been helping me deal with Government Motors, but the second I get a chance to sell, trade, or give this car away I plan on it and I plan on never ever, buying a GM again. In all of my years of driving cars, this is the first car I have ever had to tow, the tow truck guy looked at me and was like "how in the world does a 3 year old car have a dead transmission". No one on this forum can offer any help, they have no power so stop giving people false hope SocialMedia folks. The citizens of this country bailed out this piece of garbage company and then bought there cars to help support the USA and what do we get in return, a big giant lemon that GM will not stand behind. If you have a 2010 equinox run, GM knows the car burns too much oil, they just quietly issued another engine software update to lower the mileage you change the oil at. They know this car is a lemon but they won't stand behind their cars and buy them back. GM has spent over $3500 is loaner car fees alone, I have been to local car rental place so many times for a loaner that they know my face and name, that is disgusting. The only good thing about getting loaner cars is that every time I get a loaner car it has to be a GM, dealer policy, I get to experience the rest of the crappy cars GM has to offer. Explain to me how I get better mileage in an Equinox than I did in a rental Malibu and Impala? Good luck to all the other equinox owners, stay strong, find a good service department, don't depend on GM customer service they have no power to help you.

I thank god everyday I leased this hunk of junk. Notice how BMW just did a big recall - GM - take a look at them and learn.....
The support for the NOX owners is pathetic. I think I will have big stickers made to put on this car for my last 10 months letting everyone know it is a hunk of crap and GM does not care!!!

i thought of doing same thing! A big magnetic sign on the back so ewveryone can read it while I sit in traffic. Last rep i talked to aske dme what I was looking for? i said something!!!! I want me deposit back on this car or I want a a few months of my car payment paid bc of how many service days my car has been in shop -I want a crdit towards another car etc..he said nothing they can do - my warranty has covered everything. I said not my sanity!! not my time! Oh and by the way - I PAY for the extra warranty. I asked to talk to someone at GM - he said theres no number to contact them. Imagine a business with no phones? Interesting. I sent my case to GMs PO box only to get a call from the same service rep at Chevy. They forwarded it to him again!!!! I also sent my case to the New york State Attorney General. And every few weeks i remind my 485 friends on facebook how much they should avoid GM and Chevy. Hopefully everyone of you has used social media to your advantage.

I know how you feel. We are at 50,200 miles and have had our Equinox towed to the dealer 3 separate times. We have an engine replacement at 42k, a fuel pump, cam actuatior, and I've now seen it all: this weekend the lemon won't start, just clicks. The battery was replaced 2 months ago so I was sure it wasn't that. After 25 minutes of sitting, I got it to start. I took it directly to the dealer and was told the key sensor was faulty. NOW I HAVE A CAR WHERE THE KEYS DON'T EVEN WORK?! They tell me they'll reprogram it from my spare key and I'm now out $119.
GM should be embarrassed of this product.

I have been doing the same with social media and will probably get the sign as I sit in tons of traffic!!!
I would be willing to split the remaining lease payments if they would take this piece of junk back.... but no - no offer on the table so I will spend the rest of my days making sure everyone I come in contact with never purchases a GM product again!

Unbelievable!!! I feel your pain.....
It is a wonder they would even think to charge anyone with one of these lemons for anything!!
