Maybe someone can help with my situation. I have a 2010 Equinox with approximately 44,000 miles. I've had front end noise for a very long time and have been told by the Chevy mechanics that it's "normal" for this vehicle. I have experienced 2 separate incidents of stalling at low speeds requiring the car to be towed to the dealership. After several trips to the dealership with no answers, I'm feeling extremely frustrated. I have been told to change my oil AT LEAST every 4,000 miles and to be sure to check my oil in between oil changes or risk stalling. One of the times that my car stalled, it had only been 3,941 miles since my last oil change. Does this sound reasonable to anyone? I don't feel safe driving with my 2 toddlers in this car when I could stall and I've never had a car that was such HIGH maintenance. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You are not alone! Been going around with my dealer for several months. All of the symptoms you describe from noise, almost stalling. All to my dismay to find it was normal and I never agreed! So last night my check engine light came on and lead them to an issue with the fuel pump leaking into the oil! Luckily everything is covered by the power train warranty. You push them to look at this. I won't get my car back till todmoorow and hoping this has truly fixed my issues. I have a little 43,xxx miles.

My husband and I bought a 2010 Equinox on Saturday 3/17. We love everything about the vehicle.. except the NOISE! We did not realize it when we purchased it and I wish I had because I would NOT have bought it! You would think that Chevy would make a recall for this problem considering I have found SEVERAL people with the same problem. I don't even want to take it to the dealer because everyone says they say its NORMAL! I am sorry but no noise is NORMAL for a vehicle this new! Plus we traded in BOTH of our vehicles for this one.. so how would I get around if I gave it to them to fix? This is very sad.. also the dash lights go dim and light up bright.. I don't know what is going on with that....

I am like you, I am pregnant which is why I chose an SUV.. that I thought would be reliable.. now I understand why the previous owner traded it in..

The dash going dim and bright might be the auto headlights circuit. When it starts to get dark the headlights automatically turn on and the dash lights dim. The sensor or circuit might be defective.

If you can bring your equinox back and get another vehicle DO IT! I drove my equinox 2000 miles since I bought it in feb 2011... Been in the shop otherwise ...worse car I have ever seen. Best of luck to you

#1250 of 1996 excess oil consumption, lumbar, steering, cold start rough, noisy, etc by raynman10

I have a 2010 NOX with 50M and really wish I wasn't writing because I like the car. I am 6'6" and fit well in front or BACK seat! Also the service manager Bob at Novato, CA Chevy is a great and helpful guy.
My troubles started almost immediately. At 10M it was sounding like the engine was going to blow. When I got to the dealer I was almost out of oil after only had 5 or 6M on the change. I have been using about a qt every 1100 or so miles mostly ever since. My lumber has broken twice and was fixed both times even though the 2nd time was after 36M. My steering box had the sticky problem and was fixed only because the service manager Bob drove the car home, about an hour commute to recreate the problem. That problem has now come back after 4M! I have always had the rough start with high RPM (1200) any time the car sits for several hours even in warm weather. As I read the posts it seems that this could be related to my oil consumption problem and the high pressure fuel pump failing and leaking fuel into oil. Funny because the dealership said my problem was fuel contamination and switch gas stations! It is inconvenient for me to go to a dealership out of town to continue to have my oil checked. I don't understand why they don't check plugs and see what's up?
I also complained about the fact that I was loading the back and my knee went though the deck! Twice! It is just thin plastic and was not covered, cheap.
I would be much angrier if the service manager wasn’t so dedicated to making me happy. I am sorry he has such an uphill task.

#1251 of 1996 Probably need new engine by nailsgirl

Had fuel pump replaced last month, 63K. Yesterday, engine started ticking, checked oil, no oil on dip stick. The oil was changed Feb 14. Dealer said probably needs new engine! Got a rental, will hear final analysis next week.

I'm sorry I didn't check in sooner, jec10. Sometimes the tool we use to catch posts on the different social media sites we work on doesn't catch everything.

It looks as though you've had your vehicle back for over a week - how has everything been running?
