indicator stuck in reverse, ignition wont turn off

My 2000 deville dts was running & working fine untill I put it into park the last time. I moved the gear shift into park gust as normal. The car did go into park but, when I went to shut the deville off, the iginition switch did not fully rotate to allow the key to be removed. Aso noticed the gear shift select indicator lamp on the instrument cluster showes the vehicle to be in reverse. I checked the gear shift and shift cable and appears to be working fine. it shifts the trans thru all the gears and allows the car to go into park. However the dash indicator showes reverse and will not allow the ignition switch to fully shut off. Also the dash shift indicator stays on...... Help......Thanks !!
