well first it has to be determined if its a faulty part...I assume you bought the HHR either new....and you are now out of warranty either due to time or mileage, or you bought it used without an warranty....regardless...would think you would have a hard time getting it replaced either way..unless there was a fault already identified for the HHR airbags...is there a TSB for them..or has a fault previously been identified?

so have you spent more on lawyer fees at this point than the cost of repairs itself....just curious....

GM will not come out and put the vehicle on their machines because they are no longer responsible.....that is what I was looking for in the beginning.....I just wanted them to verify it was faulty........the airbag went off without hitting anything. I have no warranty because it is over mileage. I did buy it new. No faults have been identified on any other HHR driver side airbag to my knowledge. I was hoping they would come out to make sure no recall was needed....but they refuse.
I have spent no money on lawyers...........I called one for their advice......he gave me a ton of info but would not even look at taking a case because it was not going to be cost effective......especially since legally they have no recourse.

I know Im nitpicking here sorry

..but you keep saying GM will or will not do this or that.....what is the service department at the dealership telling you.....have you taken it into the shop..I assume so.....did they contact a regional tech rep?

you said GM will not put it on their machines....again..what are you referring too.. code reader for faults?...again at the dealership....trying to make a differentiation of where you are getting your info from...the service manager at a dealership....a regional tech rep...or someone else....

I filed a claim with GM, it went through several departments and finally to their legal department. This is not going through a dealership. After the airbag deployed, the car went into a cement block which caused extensive damage even though the car was traveling less than 15 mpg's. The axel broke, the tire split, some bumper damage and door brace bending. The dealer and collision repair personnel said that once a car has a claim filed against it, GM typically comes out and puts it on their machines to find out what the speed was what sensors were triggered, ect.. Since I have made it through the chain of departments at GM......Legal is the final department.......they are the individuals giving me the info.....a lawyer has confirmed their status as bankrupt and how that affects me. I am beyond a dealership.....they have done all they can.......once you reach the legal department, dealerships and other GM employees are out of the contacts. They can do no more.
