I just purchased an 02 Deville that had been sabotaged with sugar. There is sugar in the gas tank, the engine oil, and the transmission oil. It has a "Y" engine and I want to replace it with a "Y" engine. I understand the transmission behind a "Y" engine has a different final drive ratio than one behind a "9" engine. My question is how to identify which transmission is the correct on to match up to the "Y". I will be going to my salvage yard to buy both the engine and transmission. The engines are on one shelf and the transmissions on another. I want to be sure I'm getting one that properly matches up. Thanks for any help on this question!
