Advice : 2 day old 2009 Sable has a whine/winding down sound upon stopping by dp135

I purchased a 2009 new Mercury Sable this week. We test drove one model but not the one we bought - big mistake, we should have not accepted that the car was blocked in vs the one we drove and that it's the same thing anyway- but nonetheless it's over and done with and I am where I am.
Upon driving off the dealership we realized as we came to a stop the car had a winding down type sound. It is loud and pronounced and yesterday we felt as though we even heard it accelerating.
Of course everyone who got in it heard it ( sales/service/mechanic) and they all huddled and did not say much except that they think its ok etc. but they can check it and fix anything that might be a problem. Well it's not fine and now with a car 2 days old we have to go back to service etc. It was raining and they wanted us to return when it was better weather to listen etc. I am so disgusted. It's my first new car ever as my priors were used. I know NOTHING about cars. My husband does and he says something is absolutely wrong with this car.
The mechanic feels the sound was not transmission as he felt it was coming more from the back of the car.
Any advice as to what this might be and what we are to ask them if they try to blow this off?I can't believe I am in this predicament 2 days after spending almost 30K.
Sorry to ramble - I'm just pretty upset.

Well we took the car back for service and the Mercury dealer shop said the rotors had rust that were the cause of the sound and on the receipt it said something about being out of round as well.
I still do not understand the out of round part as there was no vibration like that issue seems to always point to.
It may have sat for a year as it's a 2009 but even then how could they have not addressed that noise before selling it.
