Greetings all. Would like your input on this, please.... I have a 2002 Grand Caravan, 3.3L, which I purchased used in Aug 2008. Had on it 54K miles. Now has just turned 60K miles. Van has been sound until last couple weeks. The problem... It has developed a chattering noise on start-up. Starts fine, but has this noise. While driving, a similar tapping noise is evident esp. on acceleration and up to approx. 35 mph., then is significantly quieter. Van is well maintained and I have had no issues until this. I took it to my local mechanic, who under stethoscope determined this to be likely either a rod bearing or wrist pin issue. Question is....is this covered under powertrain warranty? I have been told Chrysler pt warranty for a 2002 is 70K miles. Anyone know or had similar issue? I'm no genius but I wouldn't expect these parts to fail at 60K miles. Any suggestions or guidance is much appreciated. Thanks for your time.
