There are six consumer reviews on Edmunds from new owners of the HS250h. The average rating is 9.4 out of 10. People who have purchased this car, including me, seem very pleased with the quality, technology, and comfort of this remarkable hybrid. With respect to your specific questions, the front seats are very supportive and comfortable; it is "Lexus" quiet on the highway, and the back seats provide generous room for two car seats, which my situation requires. I have owned 5 Lexus automobiles before this one, including 2 RX SUVs. This compares favorably with all of them.

I finally took a test drive last week! It's a very nice car, but I wasn't impressed. I think I built it up too much in my mind. I'm bummed about it....all the strange whirring sounds, and I thought it would have more power than it does (or at least what it feels like). I guess I'll wait to test drive the A3 TDI before I make my final decision....

Doesn't look very Lexus to me by butchfoote

I finally saw the HS250h on the street here in New England. It didn't look like any Lexus I've seen lately. The styling seemed boxy, reminded me of an Infiniti I30 from 10 years ago, not the more fluid lines of the ES, GS and IS. It also looked pretty small on the road. It created no presence at all.

Wow ! We all need a car that "creates a presence" don't we ?? I need to upgrade to a presence mobile.

Thank you Ronhs for answering my questions about the hs250h. Did you have to pay MSRP?

Moderator---can we have two more open threads for this car now that it is available and people are buying it? ("Real world MPG" and "Buying experience and prices paid")

Yes. I did pay MSRP, however I did get a nice price (above average) for the Lexus I traded in on the HS250.

I went to my local lexus dealer today to look around. I have a Milan Hybrid on order but my heart belongs to a gs350. My local dealer had 5 hs in stock. This was the first time I saw the HS in person. I sat in the one on the show room floor. My impressions are not great of the car. The car is certainly not a head turner. Looks a bit like a Corolla and a hyndai elantra combo. Interior was at best weird looking. The fact that the dealer has 5 on the lot does not likely represent an auspicious start to the sales of the car. Price seems way to high to me. I certainly think the Milan (though not a head turner either) offers a bit more style and a lot better price.

Also the Milan is a LOT bigger inside. No cramped up back seat. And the Milan has a much higher EPA mileage rating. The Lexus has the same hybrid system that is in the Camry and it is heavier. So don't expect the HS250h to be a power house. The back seat is about big enough for a midget in the Lexus. I cannot see any reason to buy the Lexus unless it is a keeping up with the Jones' type thing. The Fusion/Milan Hybrids are the ones to beat right now. They passed Toyota with that setup. Save the $10k premium you pay for the Lexus name.

I checked out a base model yesterday. (Only one they had). I only sat in it and checked out all of the features but did not test drive it. I was quite disappointed in the feel of the interior. It just did not seem like a Lexus.......the Toyota Camry Hybrid seems more luxurious to me.

The front seat was not comfortable to me. (granted, I had just sat in an ES and a GS). The seat is not deep enough for good thigh support. The leather on the seating was not the usual comfy Lexus stuff. Just cannot believe that seat memory is not included in the base model. The technology available for the vehicle is great....but very pricey. $44-$45K to get the bells and whistles for a car with a substandard, for Lexus, interior. No thanks. I'll pay far less for a well stocked ES and pay more for gas......or pay far, far less for a TCH and do without some of the bells and whistles.

I can't understand why Lexus hasn't offered a hybrid/gas option in the ES350. Its the best selling vehicle they make & has been sitting on its laurels for the past 3 years without a substantial upgrade, except for the rising price. To introduce the HS 250h in this depressed economy is a question mark for me, unless Lexus/Toyota wanted to pat Obama and his environmental allies on their collective heads and say "Here, now get off our backs will ya?". I think the hoped-for market for this car is not there. Why doesn't anyone ever check with me before they makes these billion dollar decisions?
