The new HS looks totally like the Toyota Corrolla. I also think it looks similar to a Honda.
Do you think the car might be a bit overpriced? it might defeat the whole purpose of a hybrid.
Starting at $34,200? That is pretty hefty! Its all fine and dandy for a hybrid, but the price is just out of the competition territory. Are we simply paying for the name?
To me, it doesn't look worth that starting price. You'll dump all your money into the car payment, and that is what they fail to realize. Years later will you seeing some savings. I don't know...I am not sure.

Where the HS250h lost me was when it was disclosed it only has a 14.5 gal. fuel tank! It was initially stated, via various sources that it was 18.5. With that, I was willing to forgive a few shortcomings, but with 14.5, it indicates a compact chassis and with the weak fuel mileage, not nearly the cruising range of the Camry, much less the Nissan hybrid, with a 20 gal. tank. Not in the least interested, now, though it was at the top of my list, before. -- gfr1

A real good synopsis of the HS250 vs Camry Hybrid based on your personal experience. Thanks for sharing it.

I believe, if i'm not mistaken, from reading one of the auto magazines, that the HS250 is based on the Toyota Prius.
I think I even remember it saying something to the effect that it
was a Prius with a different exterior shell.

Read the 1 of the 2 reviews people have left about the car. Referring to the fact that it is a glorified Corrolla. I agree. Perhaps, Toyota is wanting to save money and yet get a bigger return by using the platform. But, many company's do this same thing.

No, the hosts won't allow us to compare diesels to hybrids.
Too many people can't control their personal attacks.

Partially correct - it's not that we wouldn't allow such threads, but you're right. In the existing and previous threads comparing a particular diesel to a particular hybrid, the discussion tends to have disintegrated, and can generally be summarized in one post:
"(Diesels/Hybrids) are better than (Hybrids/Diesels). If you had any sort of understanding, you would know this."
Now, if there's valuable conversation to be had beyond this, we'd certainly be open to a new discussion.

That's too bad! I'm interested in both of these cars! the problem for me is that I do not have an Audi dealer close to my home (150 miles away) and I have heard of some reliability problems. On the other hand, to load out the Lexus, it's around $10k more than the Audi (the way I option them). The mileage seems to be about the same for both. I like how the Audi looks, but I like the toys in the Lexus, especially the ventilated seats. So do I spend $10k more and have an ugly reliable car with toys, or save $10K and worry about reliability and not having a dealer close?
