I have a 2008 CX 9 AWD (non trailer package), GT with Nav. & keyless entry, 25K miles. Starting approx 2000 miles ago, on level smooth surfaces and at constant highway speeds (with or without cruise on), the CX 9 has a slight frequent surge (approx 1 surge every 1-2 seconds). Surging does not occur going up or down gradiants. Air filter has been changed and medium or high grade fuel makes no difference. The surge is slight (maybe 100-200 rpms), and up shifting to gear 4 or 5 makes no difference (just exaggerates the rpm change). The surging only slightly (if at all)changes the speed of the vehicle. The surge is most noticable with the cruise on, but surging still happens if gas pedal is held very steady. Dealer confirmed the surging, but stated computer did not pick up any problems. The only error message via the Nav system was OB41.??.   Please help as I drive over 30K miles a year, mostly on smooth level highway surfaces. Replies to this message: ceric (Jul 08, 2009 8:47 am)

Replying to: robert_h (Jul 08, 2009 7:44 am) Robert, Sorry that you have an annoying issue to pursue. However, don't let it go. The throttle body is known to have some issues (OE from Ford - check Ford Edge forum if you doubt it). There have been several reports of the throttle body problems. It may die at lights or while idling. This system is drive-by-wire, not cable. Go after your dealer to fix it. Talk to MazdaUSA directly and make them authorize your dealer to fix it. You see. Dealer can't do anything if the fix is not justified or authorized by Mazda. Use a video to document the surging and send it to Mazda support to convince him/her. That is what I will do if I were you.   If you don't fix it, the problem could only get worse, not better.
