I ended up buying a 2010 model because there was only 1 car like I wanted (blue EX-L manual 2.4L) in the entire country. It was going to cost more to buy the 2009 than a 2010, so the dealer hooked me up at invioice price (roughly 24.5k).

I am saying this because the dealer I bought mine from is supposed to put in their orders for their first 2010 models today (7/17/09). They told me they are expecting them to be delivered in Oct/Nov. Most likely Oct.

Hope that helps!

Smart move, you also saved yourself about $1500 in depreciation for a 2009. I think the new model also has bluetooth as standard.

If you are planning on keeping it for that long, I would go for the 2009 since I assume the odds of a better deal would be higher.

When I got mine (EX-L V6 6MT) on 2005, I got it for $1000 below invoice and 2.9% 60 month financing. I ordered it and waited for 2 weeks, it was an amazing deal. It was on the month of April, so no special timing there.

Truth is, coupes don't sell that well. My assumption is that dealers will order them at cost to bump their volume quota.

I would definitely stick with Internet negotiation, avoiding the lot at all costs.

Errr...missed your follow up on already having bought the car.

Congratulations on the choice and on the deal!

I should have bought in June for the best deal I think, but I didn't have the amount in down payment that I wanted. You got a great deal on the car and financing. I am hoping to get decent financing, but who knows what will happen.

The wait is killing me though

I was at a dealership today in the Sacramento area and was told there's little difference between the 2009 and 2010. As the 2010s arrive, there's probably better deals on the '09s. I checked out an Accord coupe, EX-L V6 with leather seats as standard, but no navigation. Quote out-the-door was 28,400. A potential problem was the car comes from a dealership 50 miles or so away. Anyone have an opinion on the O-T-D quote? Also, anyone think 50 miles on a new car should be negotiated in price of the vehicle?
Thank you,
Pat

Why not just go get it at the dealer who is 50 miles away?

Yes, I will. I located the dealer but one problem. Honda removed the dealer incentive, significantly. It was 1,500, but is now 750. So, the deal of 28,400 out the door is now 29,145 at the dealership where the car is located. Sacramento, CA has a sales tax of 8.5%, I shouldn't have waited!
Thank you for the reply.
