2010 Ford Shelby GT500 vs. 2010 Hennessey Performance HPE550 Camaro - They are, of course, muscle cars in the rawest, most vicious sense of the term. And they're quicker, faster, meaner and flat nastier than anything built back when Ol' Shel and Don Yenko were just guys. And not by a little bit either.(more)

From IL March 2009: The SS manual also comes with a 3.45 rear end (compared to the 3.27 in all other Camaros). The combination is good for drama-free 0-60-mph sprints of 5 seconds (or 4.7 seconds with a 1-foot rollout like on a drag strip). Easy. Get the 275/40ZR20 Pirelli P Zero summer tires slipping a little at launch, modulate the throttle, and off the Camaro goes, pouring its bass-heavy exhaust note down the road. It reaches the quarter-mile mark in 13 seconds at 110.9 mph.

The 0-60 time is bogus one time it 4.3 or 4.0 with roll out, next time its 4.6 or 4.3 with roll out. The Camaro 0-60 in 5.0 seconds not 4.6 these are edmunds numbers we are talking about. The GT500 needs bigger tires and the times will come down greatly or someone who can drive. The camaro will not run with a GT500 after 60 it not even close. The only thing holding the GT500 back is driver or traction.

I do not know what Camaros you are looking at but here in Florida the V-6s are going for anywhere between $33-$35000. The V-8s are going for over 40. That is almost Shelby money. I got mine for 47 and that was over a year ago. You can not beat the Shelby for the price. To me the Camaros will suffer from the same thing that is killing the Challengers. They are to big and heavy and cost to much just to get into the game. You can buy a Mustang GT for 25-26 all day and put 3-5 grand into it and run 12s all day.

I just bought a 2010 1LT out the door for $23680 (after my cash for clunkers rebate) including tax tag title and everything. Most dealers are selling them for MSRP now which means v6's are $23K to $30K depending on what you want, while the SS can go for as little as $30K to over $40. This is in Tampa Fl. also.My v6 has 304 hp and yes it is also heavier than the stangs, but if I put a couple grand into the v6 I can run 12's all day too.
