Just bought an 07 compass 4x4 manual transmission a couple of months ago, the salesman told me it could be towed four wheels down behind an RV, he was wrong, the 09 owners manual say a manual transmission can be towed, but the 07 owners manual says none can be towed behind an RV. We check the drivetrain parts in both years and they are the same part numbers, The Jeep rep for my dealer will not tell us what the difference is. Does anyone know if there is a difference or why 07 can not while the 09 can.

Not sure here but I am pretty handy. I suspect the no tow problem on the 07 is due to the electric clutches used in the adaptive AWD. They must be engaged by default.
