Brutal. My 2012 is 200 miles old and has stranded me twice. 2 new fuel pumps and still no successful solutions. Here comes an engineer to the dealership to try to solve my problem. I want out from under this sniper...gmc wants to keep fixing it.... Go Gm!

Good morning rtick,

Have you opened a case (71-**********) with our Customer Assistance Center on this as of yet? If not, we'd be happy to look into this further with you if you wanted to send the following information to socialmediagm.com: your name/Edmunds username, phone and address, the last 8 digits of your VIN and current mileage, and the name of your involved dealership.

Kind regards,
Sarah

hi devs1... if dealership does not inspire confidence, it is fine to try another one, but of course can be difficult to travel to a different one sometimes.
a failure-to-start that strands you is a glaring 'drivability problem', so if that's the case then after a certain # of days-in-shop/attempts-to-fix, the vehicle can be administratively lemon-lawed in many states. maybe your state has lemon-law?
either way, i believe the adage 'do not attribute to malice what can be explained by ignorance' and that a well-intentioned 'taxi driver' like the courtesy-driver or parts-driver for the dealership might not notice an occurrence of fail-to-start, especially if started fine with an immediate-retry. a technician specifically looking for starting problems would not make that mistake, however.

btw, are you using the lowest recommended octane? (87 near sea level). premium fuel is harder to ignite by definition - it makes for harder starting, and provides zero benefit for most engines, probably including the terrain's.

#243 of 297 Stability Track Service Light staying on by tenndriver

Aug 14, 2012 (3:03 pm)

We bought a 2012 GMC Terrain on August 1, 2012. We love it but the Stabilty Track Service light comes on and stays on after about 10 minutes of driving. We have tried clearing it but it just keeps coming back on. My husband is taking it in to the dealership tomorrow morning. The manual says it is safe to drive but I find this annoying. I hope we can fix this.

Congratulations on your new Terrain! That's so exciting! However, we're sorry that you already are having to make a trip in to get a warning light checked out. Please keep us posted on how everything goes in the morning!

#245 of 297 gas caps by jrlkindt

Aug 21, 2012 (4:52 pm)

I love the 2012 Terrain I've been driving since February. However we've had a teenager problem where I work and I have need of a locking gas cap or locking door to the cap. There is not one made for any year of the Terrain models according to my local service department and we're told there is no after market one that will fit them either, by our local parts dealers. This is a Huge problem for me. As expensive as this vehicle was, a simple lock shouldn't be an obstacle for GMC. When will this problem be addressed?

Stant has not yet updated their web site to include 2012 model but they list two locking gas caps for 2010 and 2011 Terrain (reg and E85, most likely just color of cap differance). You might get your local parts place do do a try before you buy on one of these if they stock them.

#247 of 297 A Question by rocketbob

Does anyone know the ratio of Equinox sales to Terrains. Relative to the Equinox forums,
there seem to be a lot less postings in the Terrain forums. Is it a volume thing or are there
just a lot more happy Terrain owners?

#249 of 297 Stablitrak Error Message/Check Engine Light by kristindenim79

Dec 27, 2012 (9:19 pm)

I have a 2012 GMC Terrain 4wd with approximately 12,000 miles. Starting in November when ever I drive on the express way 55-65 mph, The Service Stabilitrak light will come on then the check engine light will blink on and off. Once I get to my destination once I restart the vehicle all the lights will be off. I have been the dealership on four different occasions 11/15, 11/17, 12/7 and 12/26.
The first time the vehicle misfire on cylinders 2,4,6. The codes were cleared and the light came back on 11/17. That visit the same misfire, The dealership found loose front breather duct. Secured the duct and clear the codes. Third visit Code P0300 Misfires again cylinder 2 and 4. Use a borascope to inspect both cylinders for collant/dye. Pressure test and replaced the intermittent ignition coil, spark plug. Last visit Code P0300. Carbon deposits on valves. Misfire again. Clean and Decarbonize and clean fuel system. I am beyond frustrated with the issue that I am having.. I feel that that is a bigger issue with the engine..Thoughts/Advise Please
