this first/stabiltrack-message problem is almost certainly an intermittent diagnostic failure of a wheel-speed-sensor. when it's intermittent like that it really is nothing to worry about (my 2005 GM vehicle has done it intermittently for all its 7 years, mostly in hot weather. dealership can never replicate it and often the code is 'cleared' by the time they read the OBD.) if it occurs and concerns you, find a place to safely stop/restart car and restart and it should re-enable the stabiltrak . you can get your own OBD reader tool for $29 and read the detailed code causing the message, if you like.
stalling is another problem altogether, much worse problem. should never happen with a modern automatic transmission vehicle. only occurred once? that might be one time too many for me as a car-buyer. totally unacceptable.

Hello,
I have the same issues with my 2011 Terrain. I have an appt to take it into the dealership today. Last year it completely stalled on me 3x while leaving a parking garage. I took it in to get serviced and they changed the camshaft and solenoid valves as well.
I still have issues with the loud rattling noise when it starts up and the rough idyling once its in park. The noise is very bad. Friends of mine even commented on it various times.
In addition, while I am stopped at a light or stop sign it feels like it is going to stall out.
When I asked the dealership if they were having any of these issues with Terrains, they said no. So I am trying to be proactive and research on my own. Before purchasing the Terrain I had a Toyota Corolla and went through hell with it to try and get it fixed. I would of never imagined I would be back in the same situation so soon!
Do you happen to have a copy of the video you spoke of? I would love to be able to show the dealership.
Thanks!

Have you had any luck recently with the fix? And have you started the process for the lemon law?

I'm trying to be proactive regarding the issues I'm having with my Terrain because what I'm reading is not giving me much hope. Have you received any information about your Lemon Law claim? Does the lawyer feel it will get resolved?
Thanks!

Fortunately, I have not had those kind of problems...just BAD gas mileage. I tell everyone I can "Stay away from this vehicle - it is a gas hog!" False advertising - I don't care if EPA says 32 mpg - it doesn't get it.
My Toyota Camry Hybrid gets what the sticker stays - 39-41 mpg.

This sounds interesting - wonder if they will actually contact us for a "fix?"
My 4 cyclinder could use some help - gas mileage is horrendous - and I drive very conservatively.

Sorry everyone isn't getting the gas mileage they wanted, but the culprit here in the EPA. It's the EPA who estimates mileage, and the manufacturers simply post that result. Further, if you read below the BIG NUMBERS, you'll see there is actually a broad range of mileage that you can expect to get. Just another gubmint scam.

I own a 2010 Terrain have had it since January of 2010. I would like to mention for me in the city of Chicago the fuel consumption has been what is expected I have the 2.4lt. 4cyl. and get an average of 26mpg mix city and hwy and for a long road trip to Nashville got 36 Mpg and that was my calculation not what the car displays. I was very impressed.
Now the problem I do have with the car is that like everyone else I get a rough idle and it has turned off on me a couple of times at red lights.
The cam has been replaced, oil pump, timing belt (chain), and fuel pump. after all that I still get a rough Idle and a rattling sound the dealer told me, that is how that engine should sound. It is louder than any 4 cyl diesel.
Who do I need to talk to for help? It is not normal for a car at 25k miles have this much work done to it.
