I have had the same problem. I was told that "it was supposed to sound like that" but I know what the car sounded like when I bought it. My car has been in the shop off and on 4 times in the last 5 months for the same noise. They have replaced the timing belt, some chain thing, another pump, and recently put in some sound thing to make the noise not as loud. So disappointed in this car and it really has made me never want to get a GMC car ever again.

We've had the 4 cyl for about 2 years, standard fwd. We get around 22mpg around town and up to 27 mpg on the hwy. I have done a lot of research on the gas mileage as we bought the vehicle due to the 32 mpg advertised hwy mileage. Every car mag review and long term test drive says the same thing. Whatever they try they cannot get more than 26 to 28 mpg! Very pleased with 22+ mpg around town (sometimes up to 24, but its mixed driving), not so much with the hwy mpg. Given my experience, you probably will get around 20 to 22 around town and around 24 to 26 hwy with your all wheel drive. Of course it all depends on a lot of variables, how fast you drive, weather, hills, etc., etc. I would be interested in hearing what you get.
BTW, have you noticed that when you reset the gas mileage tripometer it does not stay at zero? Ours will go from zero to 22mpg every time. Drove me crazy at first. I guess the default is 22 mpg and then it figures your gas mileage from there!

gmcustsvcsarah,
It's been almost 8 months since I was told that GM was aware of the MPG issue & your engineering department was working on a fix. I haven't heard anything from GM. I saw your recent post and thought maybe you could help????? Was also told that when GM found the fix they would reimburse customers for the extra petro used.

Thank you for getting in contact, roguelemonownr,
After looking back at your previous posts, I searched through our systems to see if there was any general information about fuel efficiency and the V6 Terrain. I wasn't able to find anything, but if you were to email us the last 8 digits of your VIN, we could investigate further. (Please, if you could, include a link to this forum in your email as I am not the only Customer Service Representative responding to the emails from here).

#179 of 297 2012 Terrain leaking radiator
by okbeartoy

It's my day for GM repairs, took my 2012 Terrain in for a fluid leak at the front of the vehicle. Was told it was the radiator leaking, must be replaced, at 1800 miles.. Service writer indicated he had seen several of them like that. How's that for GM quality?
Dropped a 2011 Cruze off at another dealer just before this one, it has electrial problems...
Both are nice cars but I am disappointed with the quality.

#181 of 297 Terrain Rear Vision Camera
by mahood1
Jan 24, 2012 (11:38 am)
My 2010 Terrain's rear vision camera worked perfectly for 2 years then suddenly any light behind the vehicle became a glare at night and in the daytime it would display a vertical white line. GM has a service bulletin (PI0385) stating that the vertical line is "expected under normal operation". The bulletin applies to 2008-2012 GM Passenenger Cars and Light Duty Trucks. The dealership replaced the camera to fix the glare but the white vertical line remains. GM Customer Assistance "David" spoke to me 3 times then sent me back to the dealership saying he could not see the problem so he had no solutions.
GM does not want to cover this under warranty. Why?
I have a thought that this is a serious problem with the CCD sensor. If the white line had been there from day one I would accept the rationale -- however it wasn't so it is a warranty problem that affects many GM vehicles. Please suggest causes and solutions. Thank you.
