I'm looking at an '05 FWD 5sp manual. I test drove it and on the highway at 73mph this squealing noise started. It sounded like it was coming from behind the dash somewhere. I don't think it was the bearings, I turned the radio and the blower off and it still squealed. Any ideas?

Replying to: dpomper (Jun 24, 2009 10:51 am) Your sound is generated from a gasket seal on top of front windshield.....test this theory by putting a strip of tape across the top of the seal and drive it to duplicate the sound. Make sure the tape is not producing the noise, if I'm right ....use black silicone under the back edge of the seal on top of roof. Look close, the seal lays over the painted frame and can be lifted with a butter knife very easily. Now put the silicone in the valley on top of the weather seal or under the trailing edge under the lip. Use very little silicone to keep job looking nice. This feathered rubber weather strip is acting like a reed on a clarinet mouth piece. When air lifts the lip the springs back causing a osculating squealing noise like a clarinet. Good Luck. PS... I went to Honda about the problem, they had know idea what the problem was, if you point the area out they may have a solution. |
