Forget roller-coaster rides. If you want twists, turns, spectacular highs and plunging depths, try the saga of the Taurus, which will finally bring us to the 2010 Ford Taurus SEL.

....that maybe cars wouldn't need 'Blind Spot Monitors' and such if they weren't designed with the gunslits-for-windows didn't hit most drivers at shoulder height? I will be very pleased when this current trend is over!

Also, I think it's going to be a bit difficult for Ford to convince too many people to pay $28-40k for a Taurus when so many of last years' are available for probably half that much, especially given the traditional combo of high availability and crummy resale value.

Ford Interceptor Concept by urbc

I really like the back of the Taurus, it's vintage Ford design. Then you go to the front and it has a taste of Euro styling, thats not bad, but I would have liked to see more of the Interceptor Concept. At any rate Ford is doing a very good at PR.

Very nice car but a bit pricy by nomoreford2

This looks like a very nice car so far and these enthusiast need to stop whining about 0-60 times, anything under 7.5 provides very good acceleration considering most cars on the road are 4cyl. Since this car lost 3 inches of rear legroom, im starting to wonder if people will just buy a Fusion instead considering legroom and headroom are almost identical. Only hip room by 2 inch and a bigger trunk is where the Taurus tops the Fusion, although the 2010 Fusion looks boring like a Focus now with a overdone front grill. The Taurus does look good and I hope it does will since will go against the Impala, Avalon, Lacrosse, and Lucerne.

I agree with post #2, the Taurus have a horrible resale value, but hopefully this model will be different. But I cant see too many folks wanting to pay $28k for a Taurus considering its worth $18k a yr later. Ill wait for big rebates in 6 months with the way the economy is going.

Why does Ford always seem to overprice their new cars and then have to resort to discounting gimmicks to move them? I don't think the car is going to necessarily be a home run, but it seems decent. If they priced it "realistically" they would have a winner, but instead its headed the way of the Edge which also should have been priced realistically when introduced. They sell well initially, but quickly peter out burning early buyers and their brand image.

I think the Taurus is a excellent choice for people that want to move up from the camcord class of cars and not be stuck with a grandma car like the Avalon. I currenly drive a 03 Accord that has been a wonderful car but I want some thing a little bigger and flashier. As far as mileage goes the Taurus with 18/28 mpg beats the V6 Malibu 17/26, V6 Altima 19/26, V6 Mazda 6 17/25 and is comparable to the V6 Camry and Accord. And price wise those V6 models are within just hundreds of dollars of the Taurus SE. Kinda a no brainer! The Taurus is bigger in almost every dimmension. I think I will be driving a new Taurus soon!

Problem is that Ford and GM need to price aggressively, like Hyundai, to get a lot of people to consider their stuff. Most won't pay Honda or Toyota prices for a D3 until they can prove they will hold up over time. Early Taurus buyers risk a depreciation bath if they pay that kind of price.

Huge, ugly rear end. A nice start though.
Sorta still looks like a senior citizen car though on the inside. Bigger is not always better. Front end looks better. Less like a tonka, the Ford seems to be going for.

The Taurus is a roomy, well equipped sedan one wouldn't complain about if it were named "BMW 7" or "Mercedes S-Class." Besides, not veryone wants an suv; sedans have always worked with middle America, and the band plays on...
