Amazing, isn't it?
People will receive 3500-4500 for their POS junkers yet some will still want to quibble over scrap value?
I think we will be lucky if they don't charge us to haul these cars away!
I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

While our 1990 LS400 would qualify for the C4C program at 18 MPG. A new LS460 would not as it only gets 19 MPG. Not much improvement over the last 20 years.

i am thinking the same thing.
$50 is going to make it worth your while?
the scrap value will probably cover the lot storage until it is taken away.

the ceiling for msrp is 45k, so that excludes a lot of lexus inventory.

Its like people who are afraid to make any real money because they will have to pay taxes on it. Typical, focus on the unimportant.

Well the car went from 3,700 lbs and 250 hp in 1990 to 4,400 lbs and 380 horsepower.
I think getting one mpg combined is a pretty good improvement for a car that weighs 700 lbs more with 130 extra horsepower.

What is more important the LS460 would have a CD player that the 1990 does not have. I could not in good conscience use the LS400 in that program. I know it would never bring $4500 in trade. It is the fact that it runs great has all original paint no dings or dents and has always been garaged. We drive it more now than any other vehicle we have. It still only has 98,500 miles. Took it to Balboa park today for free day at the art museums. A CD player would be nice or XM. One gas guzzler Obama ain't gonna destroy.

You could probably find a period Nakamichi unit for that LS for not a lot of money, and it should slide right in and look stock. If you don't use the ashtray, a satellite unit could be installed there.

And as usual you ignore the point of my post.
That car has improved substantially. There is no way a nearly 400 hp 4,400 lbs car would get 19 mpg combined in 1990.
Off the top of my head I can't even think of a 380 hp car in 1990 that wasn't an exotic or the ZR1 corvette and honestly I would consider the ZR1 an exotic.

Not a bad idea. Congress can always change the parameters if they renew the program later this year.
