Our 2007 Aveo has been absolutely awful, my worst car experience since a 1973 Fiat 128SL. Just over a month ago, the most recent disaster involved was the failure of the timing belt tensioner which caused major valve/cyclinder/piston damage. The dealer was great, pushed for essentially a totally rebuilt engine, bearings up. Afterward, the car was back 3 times for a strong fuel smell (total of another 2 weeks), finally resolved, but the car now falters initially upon a cold start. This will mean yet another return to the dealer. In addition, there are other build quality issues (noises, passenger seat belt staying inactive with a passenger present, an oil leak early on...) Bottom line- we have an Aveo LT with under 20k miles that, while inexpensive to purchase, will be difficult to sell with ANY re-sale value. As owners of a total of 5 GMs currently and nothing BUT GM since 1994, I was hoping that they (GM customer service) would offer some type of resolution that would allow us to: a) sell this car back at a reasonable price or: b) get some type of credit toward a future, hopefully better car such as the Cruze. That hasn't happened. Other than my 2004 Corvette, this may be the experience that pushes me to Huyndai, Honda or Toyota. Perhaps Ford might be my last hope to support the American auto industry.... sadly. |

| I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with their ignition key feeling hot after the car is turned off? | |
