Not wanting to accelerate

I just purchased a 2006 Jeep Liberty Non Diesel Automatic. Since having this car for about three weeks now i have had the car not want to accelerate on take off. It starts to but then stops. The problem when I push the pedal to the floor is it doesn't do anything. It last about 30 seconds and then goes on its merry way. My fear is it is going to do this and someone is going to clobber me in the back end. Is this a common problem and how do I fix it? Replies to this message: tidester (Jun 16, 2009 7:07 pm)
