My wife and I are looking at cars to replace my 12 yr old car with a new one.
We went out looking at cars the other night and ended up at a local Dodge dealership. While walking the lot we looked at a couple of '08 and '09 Dodge Caliber SXT's. After taking an 09' SXT for a short test drive I have to say I was impressed. We especially like the lifetime powertrain warranty that they offer.
My sister had driven one as a rental car for about a week and told us that she felt there were some bad blind spots...but I did not notice any in my short drive. I drive with my mirrors anyways..... I don't look over my shoulder much.
When we sat down with the salesman to get an idea on payments he asked if we owned a Dodge vehicle and I told him that we did a few years ago but not any longer. He mentioned that there was a Customer Loyalty Program. How does that work - I couldn't find any explanation on the Dodge website. Does the dealer verify that you actually own the brand they are selling?
We'd like to hear some input, good or bad, from people that own the 2009 Caliber.
Thanks!

I just bought a 2009 Caliber Sxt 2.0 a few days ago and I hope my experience can help you.
If you haven't already purchased a new car I hope I can answer your question. The customer loyalty program works like this. They will need your VIN # off your dodge vehicle and your registration for the car showing that you own that vehicle. Since you no longer own that car, I dont think they can help you.

I just bought a 2009 Caliber in May. It currently has 6,500kms. I have taken it back to the dealership twice for the brakes. The first time I took it in, they couldn't duplicate the noise. The second time, which was just last week, they finally heard the noise. It is a very hard, metal on metal sound at EVERY brake! The manager told me that this is what Calibers do and that it will NEVER go away! I was told that these cars have very hard brake lining and that when moisture gets inside, they rust. The dealership took the brakes apart and lubed them up. It was fine for a day but now it sounds just like it did the day I took it in. This is unacceptable!! Am I as a consumer expected to just suck it up and deal with this for as long as I have this car? My 1989 Honda Civic was a better ride than this!!!

I purchased a 2009 Caliber SXT in July 2009, at 6550-7000 miles the brakes started making a metal to metal sound, sounds like a train trying to stop at times and then at other times nothing. It is very embarrassing and embarrasses my daughter when her friends are in the car. I have taken days off work and spent Sat. at two different dealers on 4 occassions only to be told the same "it is normal". It isn't normal or it would have made the sound when I first drove the car. The dealer replaced my brake pads which did not help one bit. They told me to report the noise to Chrysler if I wanted to complain to someone. I just heard back from Chrysler this week and they tell me there is nothing they can do because my car now has 13k miles on it and the brake warranty ran out at 12K. I told them I have been trying to get the issue fixed for the past 6000 miles, I have to work, I can't just park it in the garage and not drive anywhere to save the brake warranty. They will not honor it and said that if I want to take it back to the dealer that I will be responsible for payment. I can't deal with this sound. Everytime I write out a monthly check to pay for the car it literally makes me sick to my stomach!
