Defective fuel filler neck by deloid

2003 model...no problems until check engine light at 56K miles. Codes were all emmision related but the actual inspection revealed smoke coming out from under the gas cap (smoke test). they changed the fuel filler neck and all was fine for 1week...same check engine and of course the obligatory lights.
They repeated the smoke test and the new fuel filler neck was also cracked.
they will replace under warranty but the time spent is ridiculous.
Anyone heard of a similar problem? This is a certified Toyota service department.

Have not heard of this, and I have the same year. I wonder if it wasn't a gas cap all along. Did you see the crack? I wouldn't put it past the service department to bill Toyota corporate for a fuel filler neck at several hundred dollars versus a $10 gas cap.
