I went to a Toyota/Scion dealer today, expecting to look at the Scion tC, which I test drove and enjoyed. However, the dealer also had a 2007 used Prius. Now, I wasn't really going to spend the money for a new Prius, but the used (with 42K miles on it) is slightly less (about 1K) than the Scion, and it has the reverse camera and several other options. I test drove it (I had test driven a Prius before), and I ran the numbers on fuel economy. This specific dealership warranties any of their Toyotas or Scions on the drivetrain for 7 years, 100K miles, so for cost analysis, I pretended that 100K was the limit the car would last, then did a calculation of 15K miles per year (so about 4 years for the Prius compared to 6.5 for the Scion). I guess the thing that makes me nervous is that 42K miles seems like a good chunk of miles. That being said, the siren call of the technology of the Prius draws me. Anyone have any feedback on used gen 2 Prius - pitfalls, etc? Thanks for the feedback. |
