Now that the 2010 are available for purchase, how should that reflect pricing of the 2009 still sitting on the lots? One sales person stated we could get the same 2010 model for only $500 more which to me sounds ridiculous. If they want to move 2009 inventory to make room for the 2010, should the price difference be greater? By how much?

I am willing to take a 2009 off their hands but for a discount that would make sense, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what a "good deal" would be...

Any insight would be appreciated...thanks!

For outgoing models dealers may offer invoice and let you keep the rebate without even blinking. For the new ones they may not go as low as invoice, though, until they have a lot of 2010s in stock (or all the 09s are gone), and that may be a while.

If they will dip in to their holdback and go below invoice I think you've pushed the dealer about as far as they can go without breaking. They need to pay the bills.
