But it's really not any of your business is it?

Only if it becomes a crime to speak against it. Or if it is taught to my children or grandchildren as being a legitimate lifestyle. I do not want to be put in a position where I cannot tell my grandsons that homosexuality is a sin against God. Many of the laws that the gay community are pushing through would make that a crime. We have too many laws already. We don't need a law to protect gays from being assaulted. We have laws against that.

As far as discrimination. I think the military "Don't ask, Don't tell" should be applied to all employment situations. Especially school teachers.

Hoffman was entirely the wrong candidate for upstate NY

What issues did he push that were not conservative? I would think that a district as Republican as you say it is could have done better than the candidate they picked. I also think of Liberals wanting to take my freedoms away more so than any conservative. I guess you put a lot of weight on abortion? I am more concerned with Liberals trying to tell me what to drive or where I can live, what I can eat, or what doctor I can choose. Taxing me for some wild theory on man made GW.

I have communicated with our local Libertarian at length when he ran for our district seat in Congress when Duncan Hunter retired. I agreed with most of his positions. He had no chance to win even with my vote. He did take the time to email back and forth. Something Duncan Jr did not do.

Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting by gagrice

A bad week for Democrats compounded by an awful moment for Barack Obama.

After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.

But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

Cannot say it is from Fox News on this one. It is his own Chicago NBC state run media questioning his lack of leadership and respect. 87% of his own are furious about his lack of sensitivity.

Well, that wasn't NBC so much as an opinion piece by a disaffected ex-Democrat. (Wiki)

Someone at the White House probably thought it better to give the strokes to the (previously scheduled?) guests before turning to maudlin subjects.

I was out tooling around yesterday morning when I heard the news on NPR. POTUS was heavily quoted and it was all appropriate quotes, and there was nothing about the BIA in it.

I dunno - you think there should have been one photo-op press conference for the BIA stuff, followed 5 minutes later by a "different" press conference? Joe Medicine Crow is 96 years old; maybe he could have waited another day or two.

Damage control will probably include flying into Ft. Hood on the 11th after the Arlington ceremonies.

[edit - unless they change the schedule, he's heading to Anchorage].

I think his handling of the whole affair is more of the same multicultural BS our leaders are part of. This is the second murder crime committed with Islam as the basis in the last two weeks. Killing your daughter for dating a non Muslim is perfectly acceptable under Islam. Killing those that are not Muslim is considered honorable under some Islamic teachings. Yet our leaders are pandering to them all across the world. Our tax dollars are building mosques in Iraq as we speak.

We better wake up and smell the roses in this country before we end up in the same situation as several EU countries.

Major Hasan gave plenty of warning, concerning his beliefs over his career in the military. He adamantly opposed both our current wars. So why does the Army promote him to Major and deploy him to Iraq? The other sick part is we paid for his education as a doctor of Osteopathy and Psychiatry.

I don't think he was part of any Islamic Terrorist group. Just a Islamic zealot that snapped when he was deployed to a war zone he did not believe was right.

That is not exactly true. The largest group of immigrants was from Germany. They were required to learn English to be accepted in this country and become citizens. Now everything you see has several languages. Before long we will not be able to communicate with each other. The CA drivers test is in a bunch of different languages. I say learn English then apply for a license.

One of the best examples of multicultural BS is the fire fighters in Oregon.

SALEM, Ore. - Some English-speaking firefighters are losing their jobs because of an Oregon state law that requires them to be bilingual.

The Department of Forestry enacted a law three years ago that requires them to be bilingual, but this year they're actually enforcing it.

2002 was such a devastating wildfire season, contractors were scrambling to find firefighters.

Hispanics often filled their needs on the fire lines.

Jim Walker of the Department of Forestry said "what we do know is 85 percent of the crew make-up is of Hispanic decent."

But many of the Hispanic fire fighters do not speak English. Walker says the language barrier is a concern.

That kind of crap should not happen in the USA. Anyone not willing to pledge his allegiance to this country should get the BOOT.

JCT Confirms Failure to Comply with Democrats’ Mandate Can Lead to 5 Years in Jail
Friday, November 06, 2009

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

In response to the JCT letter, Camp said: “This is the ultimate example of the Democrats’ command-and-control style of governing – buy what we tell you or go to jail. It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.”

Key excerpts from the JCT letter appear below:

No wonder they don't want to release the bill for scrutiny before the vote.

Barry sticks foot in mouth on Shout Out by gagrice

OBAMA: Please, everybody, have a seat. Let me first of all just thank Ken and the entire Department of the Interior staff for organizing just an extraordinary conference.

I want to thank my Cabinet members and senior administration officials who participated today. I hear that Dr. Joe Medicine Crow (ph) was around, and so I want to give a shout out to that Congressional Medal of Honor winner. It's good to see you.

Ah, the dangers of giving shout outs without a teleprompter. Crow is not a Medal of Honor recipient. As noted by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society:

The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. Generally presented to its recipient by the President of the United States of America in the name of Congress, it is often called the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Crow's name is not included on the Society's Medal of Honor recipient list. He was, however, awarded the Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, in August.

Obama, often described as "cerebral" by the mainstream media, should know the difference between the Medal of Honor and the Medal of Freedom, especially since he personally awarded the latter to Crow. Don't expect his blunder to receive wide coverage. It's not something he can blame George Bush for.

No biggie for a President that thinks we have 57 states in the USA.

Actually there were neighborhoods in all the big cities where the older people lived out their life speaking only their native language and the kids got the melting pot treatment. Still are - just look at Little Havana in Miami.

If you're so concerned about speaking the local language, maybe you should learn Navaho or Hopi.

Lots of people don't pledge anything because of religious convictions (hey, another reason the US was founded). You can't instill love of country by cramming laws down the throats of the citizenry.

Here's a link especially for you.
