I went to my N.J. Hyunida dealer to get my free ($16.80) oil change since I'm one of their "special' customers after hitting 30K. On the list of "their" service items is a transmission and differential flush. All for the low price of some $400 dollars. After looking a bit bewildered I went and got the factory service requirements. Then the service guy tells me their "district rep" calls our area a 'severe use" area. Hence the special service needs. Well the dealer is some 12 miles away and there are maybe 10 lights between my house and him. I average some 19-21 MPG. Severe ? So after nicely stating I don't idle for hours, drive over 90MPH, tow at all that I will skip that and just get my "free" oil change. I guess we have our differences. I guess that's how their Hyundai's last 200K... put $90K of service into it ! ! Amazing what the service rep will tell you. And yes, it's written down on their handy "service" booklet. I'll have to get one and scan it. I have owned 2 Jeeps, an Audi Quatto and many other cars and never had someone try a trans flush at 30K no less never heard of a differential flush ! Ever. I know at 80-90K you change the differential fluid, this was a "flush". It's listed on their web site too... Hyundai is gonna get an earful.
