Jeep 4 wheel drive problems by kschmidt319

Hey everyone,

Im trying to help a friend who's going through a tough spot, figure out whats going on with her Jeep.

She has a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It has about 90k miles on it. Apparently, for some reason or another, it is stuck in 4 high. She says shes been driving it in 4 high for about 6 months now. Before that, it was stuck in 4 low, where she drove it for a year, until a shop got it to stick in 4 high. The problem is, while your driving it, you hear a sound that literally sounds like a fire engine siren. The car also pulls extremely hard to the right, and you can smell very strongly transmission fluid, or differential fluid.

Does anyone have any ideas?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Please repost your message in the Jeep Grand Cherokee Transmission Problems discussion. You will be much more likely to get a response there.
