Ladies and gentlemen...might as well ask for the bankruptcy papers to prepare to sign....this vehicle has absolutely no appeal of any kind and of course, teasing us with those designs at the auto show only tells us that chevy is broke and has to scarf up something and call it a Volt. In case u didnt notice, Ford is now kickin serious behind with the hybrid fusion..(which is fun to drive). By the way, a recent 1400 plus mile test run was done with the fusion and guess what? it averaged 81 or so miles to the gallon. Beat That! competitors!

I think it has the potential to change the entire automobile business in the US, if GM can stay in business long enough to produce it. It sounds like you're dismissing the whole concept.

I agree that it has the potential but they're on thin ice right now and in the last quarter they still reported losses in the 30 plus percent. The ship is sinking unfortunately!

Wow, yeah ... you obviously have no clue what "mule" means and didn't actually read the article with any comprehension. If you think you're looking at the pre-production Volt car itself, you're sadly mistaken. Maybe you should go to www.chevrolet.com and click on "vehicles" then down to "future vehicles" for a much better idea of the true Volt styling. Granted, that isn't the TRUE Volt we'll eventually see, but it's a much better idea of what it will look like in production form. Insiders say that car's design is extremely close to the final production car.

But apparently the answer was part of some sort of NDA, or it was a short test drive: How long does it actually run in electric-only mode before the ICE kicks in?

Back seat gets hot?!?!? by moosemeat

In the review, Edmunds indicates as a "Con" that the back seat gets hot. How long post-production will it be before we start hearing reports of back seat fires?? I absolutely refuse to purchase a Government Motors vehicle. Like most Chevy's, this will likely be built in Canada. I wanted to buy American, so I recently purchased a Toyota Camry Hybrid, put together by American hands.

An interesting point of view. You're drawing conclusions about fires in the the finished product based on some heat issues in a prototype. And you think the car might be built in Canada, so you're writing it off without knowing?

Exactly!!....so you catch my drift? Plus I'm just annoyed at the government bailout situation. I've got a friend whose father lost his home due to being laid off and medical bills from my friend's deceased mother. How come he didn't get a bailout. How many people are now deciding between food and prescription drugs...when's their bailout coming? Lets quit bailing out greedy corporate pigs and help those who really need it. So, you're right stephen987...I'm being a bit facetious, just a means of my expressing my frustration with the way some things are these days.
