I'm not sure what happened to what I posted earlier today, but what the hey, I'll try it again. Ahem, The other day the dreaded check engine light made its appearence while on a trip to the hospital to visit my brother-in-law, he's doing much better FYI. Anyway, I took my T&C to Autozone (great bunch of guys) and they read the code for me, it was a P0406 code which means the EGR Valve is having an issue. The valve cost $80 (autoparts store) and a Saturday afternoon if you decide to tackle it youself, for a handy person it is doable, others should stay clear of this one. iThis repair could wind up costing you over $400 bucks at a Chrysler dealership. Anyway now to fun part. I decidied that before I was going to start buying parts and prepping for this repair I was going to physically check all the connections to the EGR valve, alternator and the other assorted sensors. To my surprise one of the connections made a snapping sound when I squeezed it together, (the connection was not fully seated) and magically the check engine light disappeared when I started my T&C. So, please if you get a check engine light and it's an EGR code, please check your connections. |
