Transaxle quick learn by blamontagne

I have a 1999 Plymouth voyager with a 3.3L engine and a 4 speed 41TE transaxle. It seems to run fine at low speed, but when it goes to shift, there is a slight jerk, and feels as if the van is going to stall. I pulled the following codes (P0700, P0731, P0750, and P1782), and after a little research I believe the solenoid shift pack needs to be replaced, which I have on order. The manual states that after the solenoid is replaced, it will need a "quick learn procedure" to recalibrate the transaxle system for proper operation using a DRB scan tool. Is there any way around this? Also when bleeding the brakes on this van, do I also need the DRB scan tool?
