I have maintained this vechile very carefully by the book but since 2006 I have a problem sometimes not all the time with applying the brakes and the gas peddle sticks. This is so unsafe and no one at Toyota has heard of the problem. They think it might have something to do with cruise control cables. Can anyone help??

Well if they think it is the cruise control, unplug the actuator or the cruise control ecu, so that it would be impossible to cause the problem.

If the problem goes away, you've isolated the problem. If the problem still occurs, then it has nothing to do with the cc.

2001 camry battery wire by toots336

Can anyone tell me what it would take to replace the cable that runs to the battery? It's a bundle of wires, not the battery cable. I had a relative replace my battery and he cut the battery wire rathere than taking the clamp off. Don't get me started. Help anyone??

Get him far away from your vehicle.

I assume what you are talking about, is some small number of thick wires that were bundled together into one battery clamp, I'm guessing on the positive battery post. If that is not the case, then ignore everything else I'm writing.

Your solution will depend upon whether the remaining cables are long enough, that you can put them into a replacement battery connector (you can buy these at auto parts stores). If all of the cables will reach the battery when put in a new clamp, then you have a fairly easy solution.

If they do not reach, then you are going to need to get a very thick battery cable about a foot long, a replacement battery connector, and a very heavy duty (bolt tightened) wire clamp. With one end of the new battery cable, connect it with the wire clamp to the cut wires. The other end of the battery cable, put on the replacement battery connector. Cover the wire connector clamp, with many many layers of electrical tape and secure the line from vibration. That new battery cable needs to be thick enough to handle over like 150 Amps, so do not try to jury rig some cheap solution.

Of course, you'll need to strip back the wires he cut, to get a good electrical connection to those wires.

Do all of this splicing, while the battery is out of the car so you don't shock yourself.

Of course it's not the easy solution. My connector sometimes comes off because the battery isn't where it's supposed to be because of the cable being so short and then of course my car dies. Trust me, he won't touch my car again. I guess I'll have to take it to a mechanic because I can't do that myself. Thanks so much for advising though, I appreciate it!

Ohh...okay... so he was doing the right thing.

You've got to get the battery back to it's correct position and bolted down (so it doesn't flop around either in normal driving or an accident), and lengthen the battery cable so it is able to reach the battery.
