Actually it is more about profile than size. I was following a guy in a large pickup with a cab on the back and he was blowing all over the place. My nice aerodynamic and small Integra was not having a problem. When we stopped the guy was saying how bad the wind was and I told him I hardly noticed. I have driven a 15 passenger van in the wind and they are also terrible despite being large and heavy. I would guess the Prius is on par with a Matrix or something about the same size that is a hatch.

I was going to get a 2010 Prius level V and found out that the solar cooler is not available for that version. One needs to drop down to level IV which drops the 17 inch wheels and the LED headlights. Weird.

I am guessing that the bifurcation of the equipment choices is so that you can't buy everything you want and avoids having a Prius with a sticker price of $40,000+ which would be picked up by all the anti Prius people and press and be very damaging. This way, a fully loaded MSRP maxs out at around $33,000 which is still a lot for an "economical" car that supposidely starts at $22,000. |
