I have yet to drive the Camaro (evidently the dealerships don't find it necessary to humor the customer to this extent at the moment), but I have driven a 2009 SRT8 and a 2010 Mustang, both with 6 speed manuals, the Mustang a base GT with standard rear end. The Mustang is fun, if a little sloppy, and makes a great sound. The materials and finish on the base cloth interior are not impressive. The Challenger drives like a big car, but a competent one. Unfortunately mine was making a scraping noise from the rear end when I returned to the dealer after a brief drive. I'd like to think that that was a one-off issue (has Chrysler learned their lesson yet?).

I suspect that the Challenger would be the most stable of three at really high speeds. Watch Angus MacKenzie's Motor Trend video tour of Europe, where he got the car up to 160+ on the autostrada (looked like it could have been the A13 between Padova and Bologna?). That would be down to the Mercedes genes.

There are rumors all over the web about an engine change for the 2011 Mustang -- the 5.0 liter 400 hp Coyote V8 -- so it might pay to be patient with that one.

Not gonna happen. There have been "rumors" of a 5.0 V8 returning to the Mustang GT since 1994. Here we are 15 years later and people are still holding on to that rumor.

And one minor correction to your post; the Mustang GT doesn't have a 6-speed manual.

I was just quoted a 18 to 22 week wait time for a special ordered Camaro (Florida) . The second question was when will you get one in.... The answer was we do not know and we have no specifics on what we may be getting.

My opinion right now is that the Camaro is in THIRD place Mustang in FIRST and the Challenger is the strong second. Maybe Edmunds needs to add an additional category " Availability " which rate the ability for the common man to go to a dealership and test drive one and take it home if one whishes to purchase it.

It's funny (no pun intended) that Chevy dealerships treat Camaros as if they are Ferraris. Years ago, I went to a dealership to test drive a Camaro SS. The salesman refused to let me drive it w/o running a credit check first! It's ridiculous because I could go to the Mercedes dealership and have the keys to AMG cars thrown at me and sent on my way for as long as I wanted; $80K+ cars, mind you! Yet, I go to a Chevy dealership and have to give credit credentials to drive a $30K car?!?

A joke indeed!!

Most dealers in SoCal has 1 for test drive by ck90211

I am in LA and most dealers I contacted have 1 LT for test drive (but not to sell), and some has 1-2 SS2's loaded with crap to sell (MSRP but sure loaded with crap). Waiting time depends a lot on colors (red, yellow may be longer than black, gray, silver).

I'm in Northern California and the mark up and delivery dates seem the same as my southern counterparts. I remember when the new Mustangs came out in '05, the dealers were pulling the same "market value mark-up for the '05 GT's.

Today, I feel the same with the Chevy dealers. You'd think a bankrupt company like GM would want these cars flying off there lots. Some do (sell MSRP) but I've seen this played out before. I've been a big Chevy fan but Ford's got them beat to the punch. The options on the 2010 Mustang GT Performance package has a lot to offer. Hard to resist.

Well thank for saying the obvious to anyone who wasn't raised on Jap cars. Not only is the Camaro butt ugly ... it isn't in any sense of the word a Camaro. GM wanted to cash in on the Camaro name by calling this grotesque "thing" a Camaro in the hope that that might help sales

I laughed when I 1st saw the car ... it looked like something the Russians would have designed during the 70's to have a Camaro of their own. The ONLY resemblance to the now defunked Camaro is that it has 2 doors & 4 wheels.

I owned a 2002 Z28 & on behalf of all former Camaro owners would like to start a class action suit against GM to make them remove the Camaro name from this (seriously) hideous "thing" they call a retro car.

For the record (aside from the interior) I think the 2005 - 2009 Mustang is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. I had a 1967 350 GT ... 335 hp in a car that weighed under 3000 lbs ... that car moved!
