2010 Chevy Camaro SS vs. 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T vs. 2010 Ford Mustang GT - All three cars are available with the same performance goodies for less money, but it wouldn't have changed the outcome. (more)
| At ~2:35 I hear "Charger" instead of "Challenger". Ooops. | |

You and MotorTrend priced Camaro as the best of the three...added that every car here of them has unique personality ! especially good words are send to Mustang.. we all thought that Camaro will kill Mustang, but Ford still can keep it Pony hot ! if it will have 50 BHP(5.0 L Boss) more it might be better than C'maro Black SS for me ! modern muscle debate ernwopr |

....and the sound of the cars...! free flow exhaust in RT ? that SS rumble is impresive, and Mustang "bullit " exchaust has also it's own flair.. |

Now that I've seen all 3 up close, i'm leaning in favor of the 'Stang. Camaro is not as gorgeous as I'd hoped, a bit tall and blocky. Color makes a big difference on the Chevy as well, the silver seems best, wasn't crazy about the car in red. Mustang is evolutionary at best outside, but I liked the previous version and think the changes sharpen the character. Challenger looks very bloated and lumpy by comparison and the interior is the worst by a long shot. It's also way too heavy and needs the 6-speed with the SRT motor. As the 'Stang keeps the Camaro in sight with the 4.6L, I'll hold off for the upcoming Boss 5.0, as long as the Ford doesn't put on too much weight like the Shelby version did, it should blow doors on both the GM and Mopar. Keeping my fingers crossed....

Just what I always wanted. A government owned/produced Camaro with cloth seats for $35,000.00 and a Obama backed warranty . Sounds like a dream come true!!! NO THANKS! |

I was anxiously awaiting the camaro for about a year and had my heart set on one, but wanted to see one before ordering. I just looked at one.... On the outside appearance it is everything I hoped it would be and more. I think it is nicer than the 60s and 70s models! I would have bet the bank this would not happen, but I've decided not to buy one. In fact, I wouldn't want one. I know I can buy a V8 mustang for about the same price as a 2LT (6 cyl) camaro, but that's not an issue. My issues were: 1) Why would they put the battery in the "sub" trunk area? I'm sure there's a reason for it, but makes no sense to me. 2) Visibility was pretty bad. I saw no purpose for the rearview mirror and the side mirrors were largely blocked by the rear fenders. The side windows are far too small as well. I would not want to drive this car in traffic or back it up without a spotter. 3) I have never seen an interior like this. (I've not owned GMs and perhaps it is a GM thing.. idk) All the instruments were stuck together in the center of the dash and the glove box was way too low. I believe the quality of the materials for the dash and doors and buttons would not meet the standards for an entry level pickup truck, let alone a $30k car. I thought it was the cheapest interior I'd seen in a car. I have no interest in a challenger or a mustang, but really wanted a camaro. Not sure what I'll buy now, but I know it will NOT be camaro. |

| Title says it all. My local dealership has a Hemi Orange Challenger with stripes, chrome wheels...it's sweet! BUUUUUUT, from the research I've been doing parts for all Chrysler cars is at a stand still until all their troubles get worked out. It's too bad because they finally made something for car folk to covet! | |
| Are you guys the three stooges? You tested a top of the line Camaro with a mid level Challenger and Mustang! Waist of time. To get it right test a SRT8 Challenger, Shelby Mustang and your Camaro with a Corvette engine. I hope your others readers were smart enough to catch what you guys did. | |

The hard plastic used in the Camaro's interior reminded me the 89 Toyota 4Runner I used to have. It was considered a great material because it formed a very purposeful interior for the car, easy to clean, etc (most Japanese cars in that period used the same materials and design for the interior probably because of the manufactures using the same suppliers), and best of all, it beat the cracked dashboards that I used to see in cars there were made in the 60s, 70s and the early 80s. Domestic cars back then (again, in the late 80s and early 90s) used vinyl on dashboards and such, I believe, to create a soft-to-touch feeling for the interior of cars, which turned out to be a failure due to ripped and cracked interior which the Japanese cured with the hard plastic material. But that WAS 1989! This is now 2009 and GM is still using that hard plastic whereas many other car companies are using better quality plastic. The big 3 need to compete better with the imports and GM is lacking behind. I think Ford finally caught on, and just using the example that this article was tested which was the Mustang, it was a great improvement over the last year's model. It addressed a lot of people's concern especially about the interior of the car. The new Camaro is an attractive looking vehicle, but is it really what people will want to put out money and live with for few years? I didn't mention about the Challenger because with all the bk issue they are dealing with, it's just not wise to even looking into buying that car at the moment, although I do think the car isn't as bad as what Edmund had to say about it. Anyway, it's all my own opinion... |
