Hi, I'm having a knocking sound that sounds more like a whack coming from what it seems is in the plastic housing on top of the engine. I turned on the car and started hearing this sound that reminds of a fan hitting something as it spins. I don't know whats in that casing, as I don't have a breakdown or took it apart yet. So I started driving home so it wouldn't be left unattended, as it was too late to call an auto repair place. The engine idled very rough, almost like it was going to die, and after going about a mile, the engine light came on. Fortunately I reached a place I could put it safely for the night. I realize this is pretty vague, but does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks.
