2010 Ford Mustang GT vs. 2009 Nissan 370Z - Go ahead; pick a car, any car. Both of them will reach 60 mph in 5.2 seconds (4.9 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip). (more)
| OK, let's have Mustang or Z vs. Genesis (as long as we're going with a 2-seater vs. a 2+2). Throw in an RX-8 for fun. | |

Jason, I wouldn't exactly say the 370Z put a "drubbing" on the 135i, unless almost identical performance results in every test, with the Z edging on style and the 135i better on overall MPG, is what you would define as a "drubbing". (edit: actually, the Z probably does have better overall MPG, I must have been thinking highway numbers for the 135i....still a close test comparison though!) At first I was wondering if it was accurate to call the Z a legend, then I remembered the Datsun Fairlady. Point Datsun! |

i have always been a z fan but after reading much about the 10 mustang and seeing it in person, i now like mustang more and more, especially in the convt form. i notice many car manufactures are now using diff size tires front vs. back on their sport cars, but really, would that make a car handle that much better on daily use? I personally wouldn't know because the only time I took a car to a race track was on my 93 MR2 Turbo. But not being able to rotate the tires on a car would be a disadvantage to me. I have a 02 ford explorer and the first set of tires last me 90k miles having them rotated at every 5000k miles oil change. the interior seemed to be a much improvement on the 10 model over the 09. I remember comparing the 350z with the 08 mustang's interior at the car show, and i was thinking, "why would anyone spent this kind of money on a car with this kind of crappy plastic on the interior" about the mustang. although the Z was all plastic also, it was a better quality plastic. now if i can get a GT premium convt at $500 under invoice...

Replying to: 2006vr6 (Apr 27, 2009 5:46 am) about the stang... have yet to find a dealer that would do under invoice on new stangs especially a convt. it doesn't bother me though because even though this isn't a brand new remade-from-ground-up model, i might be able to get one that's made later this year that wouldn't have much of the new car glitches on it. |

I'm pretty sold on the new 2010 Stang GT and I'll be buying in a day or two. I'd appreciate some experienced and knowledgeable advice on a few questions. First I'd like to say that I found the GT's interior cleaner than the GT Premium's Sure the Premium comes with more bells and whistles but I found that Premium's steering wheel slippier than the regular GTs. Also the silver aluminum stripes on the Premium's steering wheel get hot and a little sticky..they aren't pleasing to the touch. To me, a steering feel is a simple yet important part of a car and I'd prefer the regular GT one. That's one thing. Secondly, leather isn't really my thing..I found the GT's cloth seats very comfortable and cooler (temperature wise). Thirdly..I'm pretty concerned about the gadgetry that comes with the steering package..The more electronic stuff, the more things can go wrong. I wasn't too impressed with all the chrome and black plastic, especially surrounding the door speakers. Power seats and sunroof just add weight ..I wonder how much though..I could probably live with all of these gripes providing there is a real performance advantage with the GT Premium over the GT. The most important concern I have is whether the track package which only comes in the GT Premium, is well worth living with my dislikes listed above. I will certainly order the 3.73 rear gear ratio package which is offered in the normal GT. I believe the 3.73 rear gear package also comes with the same limited slip differential as what would come with a GT Premium with the track package. The track package comes with modified suspension parts and tunning which is only offered with Premium cars. Is this significant enough from a performance point of view? A question the sales rep simply didn't know the answer to. In a nut shell, is the track package that comes in the GT Premium worth me switching from a GT with 3.73 gear package?? Please answer if you know .. soon. Thanks. Joseph San Diego
