Thanks Cassidy. I'll see what my local dealer says tomorrow. I trust them, but I'm really disappointed to see so many of the same problems appear here on this thread. Makes me think a recall should have occurred... and perhaps a class suit may be necessary? Ridiculous to think so many of the same problems have occured.

#96 of 228 Same Problem!

I'm having the same tightening of the wheel, have tried having it addressed twice, and narrowly avoided an accident this morning. I'm shocked to see how common this is! I need advice - I already went to my dealer about both this steering issue and an A/C issue. They fixed the A/C and said the steering was fine. That was over a month ago. I took the car elsewhere, they filled the PS fluid - no change. If I can't get help from the dealer, where do I go?! For an obviously common issue, there should be no cost involved!

Good morning jpatstl,
If we can follow up with your dealership on the tightening of the wheel matter you've described, please send the following information to socialmediagm.com:
Your name and Edmunds username, phone and address, the last 8 of your VIN and current mileage, and the name of your involved dealership.
We will set up a Service Request in our department and go from there.

#98 of 228 Missing Power Steering
Jul 11, 2012 (6:20 pm)
I too have this issue with my Buick. I work out of state during the week and home on weekends and drive my vehicle during these dates or when I am actually able to work from home. The past several months I have noticed my power steering acting this way. I have taken it to two different GM dealers and they are telling me that I need a new steering column and it is going to cost me close to $2000. If this is something that is happening quite frequently it would appear that Buick would need to do a recall.
Is there something that is recommended to get this resolved since there are so many people with the same issue on this forum?

Yes, I agree!! No cost should be involved. How can you have 98 comments on the exact same issue over the past few years?!? I was told mine is the steering column, which is ridiculous because my steering column is fine.
Please post if you get a reply.

#101 of 228 Steering Column (continued)
Jul 12, 2012 (7:38 am)
So I posted to this site about 2.5 months ago about the Steering Column problem.
It had already been fixed under warranty once - and then same problem occurred - out
of warranty now -within a 2 year period. So after much back and forth - with GM customer
service- GM would pay for parts and we pay for labor + tax for servicing which amounted to
$650. So we did this. Got the car back - and noise is still there - and worse. When I brought the car back - they said this was a different problem with the steering column and would take an additional $600 to fix. Just lesson for all - even if you fix the problem - it probably won't get fixed.... With all three of our cars approaching the need to replace - GM is becoming less and less likely option.......

Spoke with Buick customer relations today over another less but still apparent issue with Enclaves... (vinyl applique bubbling of my window surround.)
The rep politely reviewed the recall process. I hope that all that are having issues with the steering have made a claim. When enough claims are filed, the government controls the recalls. I have a feeling it will be occurring.
#103 of 228 Enclave Power Steering Recall
Jul 13, 2012 (3:15 pm)
As a follow up to my post a month ago, my dealership was able to get GM to pay for all of the parts and labor involved with my power steering repair. I do feel like a recall is necessary and urge everyone who has posted here to file a report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/.
I finally made my report today and they take about 72 hours to show up on the website. It only took about 5 minutes. You do need your VIN to make the report. This is probably the only way the government will force GM to perform a recall and repair everyone's vehicles at no charge.
