Thanks so much for posting your issues with the power steering. You just saved me $2000.

I had no idea that this was a common problem for the Enclave. I own a 2009 Enclave and started having the same issue with power steering around 55k-60k miles. It was just out of warranty and I didn't realize it since I was still within the 3 year purchasing time. Anyway, we took it into the dealership 2 days ago and they called yesterday to tell us the power steering rack would need replacing and that there were metal shavings in the power steering pump that would also need to be replace all for a grand total of $2200.

That led me to google the problem and I found this site. I took Sarah's (the GM Customer Service rep in replies above) advice above and emailed GM at socialmediagm.com yesterday. Well, this morning I starting think I should take your advice and call Buick Customer Service Center directly, so at 9am this morning I called and specifically asked them if they could help with the cost of my repairs since this is a common problem amongst Enclave owners and it appears to be the result of faulty equipment. They asked some general questions and put me on hold while they called the dealership to verify the diagnostic testing. When he returned, he told me the dealership offered me a Third Party Extended Warranty for 3 years/36K miles, costing $2000 and I would only have to pay a $500 deductible for the repairs. I simply stated that I didn't take that deal because it was a bad deal; 36K would only last me 1 year since my job is 60 miles from home and Third Parties are notorious for refusing claims. He agreed and said he would submit the request to the district specialist and I should hear back within 24-48 hours. Well, later today around 4pm, to my surprise, Heather from GM Customer Service at socialmediagm.com gave me a call to followup on the email that I sent them. She also said that she would submit the request and even promised to call back tomorrow afternoon. Then, surprisingly, about 15 mins after speaking to Heather, I received a phone call from the Service Manager at the Dealership servicing my Enclave who apologized for the problem and said they would be more than happy to complete all repairs for just $200, the same cost as it would have been if I had a warranty. I was shocked and grateful. I was prepared for a big debate, but everyone I spoke with was very nice and helpful.

Anyway, I just wanted to share for anyone else who has this problem. Now, I just pray the repairs last. Apparently, that seems to be a problem as well.

Yes, take cassidy5's advice and take your car in to a Buick dealership for a diagnostic, then call the Buick Customer Service to request assistance in covering the cost for the repairs. They were extremely helpful when I called. There was no debating or trying to convince them to help. I just said I noticed on the internet that many customers were having similar problems due to faulty equipment and I was wandering if you would be able to help with the cost of the repairs. They then spoke directly to the service department at the Buick dealership to verify the issues. It was painless and they brought my repair cost down from $2200 to $200 despite me being out of my warranty.

And also report the problem here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ It's very important to get the issue out there so they can issue a recall if necessary. Apparently this is a very common issue and needs to be formally addressed.

Thanks Cassidy5 and jsmith for your response. I took my car in to get serviced this morning for the power steering noise and it took about 2 hours and they replace the steering sector boot and hose and replaced the fluid and the "groaning noise is gone". They said the boot gets dried out and that what makes the noise. Happy with C&D Motors in Waterloo, Iowa. So Far so good! I don't know what it would have,I still have some Bumper to Bumper left.

the power steering was whinning not long after i purchased it so i brought it in and the dealership changed it out! but it whinning again! havent contacted the dealer yet but i will!

the a/c works great but most of the time it sounds like it has a bind on it. so much so im scared it wont last long like that!

had bubbling on the black part between the windows but the dealership changed the film.. no problem with it yet

while driving if the window is put half way down it kills my ears and it sounds like i have a flat tire doesnt matter whether its a back or front window!

I had the service manager call a couple of times and explain to them that it was a safety issue and I was barely out of warranty. The first time, they agreed to pay half and finally they agreed to pay for all of it. I also had them pay for all but $200 of the price of repairing the same issue in my daughter's 2008 Saturn Vue by asking the service manager to call again.

#118 of 202 How to Get GM to admit to lemon by buckeyewife

Just want to post AGAIN....car in shop for leak and clunk on acceleration. This is the 8th time for the transmission alone.

#119 of 202 Transmission Gone Bad by chosen33

Aug 16, 2012 (11:31 am)

I'm reading all of these posts and my 2008 Buick Enclave has had everyone one of these problems. Leaking sunroof, bubbling around window, replaced rack & pinion for steering wheel that locked up on me 5hrs away from home coming from a funeral, and now my transmission. The transmission has been going bad since last year...truck vibrates as I accelerate and transmission light comes on every other week. Many months ago 1 dealer told me I needed a new transmission (as I posted on here before)..got a 2nd & 3rd opinion and both said I didn't. But they couldn't tell me why my car was sluggish and vibrating. Fast forward about 6-7 months now 3rd dealer is telling I need a new transmission. And it's going to cost me about $3500 plus another $1000 because they said the struts will go bad by being on the lift so long while they replace the transmission. So $4500 in total

All of these vehicles are having the same problem yet there is no recall. I have to pay thousands of dollars to purchase the car, now I have to pay thousands to keep it rolling also. I love my Enclave, but these issues are terrible and I don't have $4500 to fix my car right now...and it's getting slower by the day....very disappointed!
