0-60 of 6.4 second for 2010 genesis is unbelievable.
suddenly i see test record from all major magazines.
the 0-60 for genesis is mostly between MotorTrends' 5.5 to 5.8 from popular mechanics. even 3.8 genesis sedan was recorded 6.3 on mortor trend.
I saw edmunds' 0-60 for hyundais were alway about 1-2 second slower than other magazines test drives.
for ex:
2006 Sonata V6 was more than 8 sec compare to other magazines mid 6 secs.
2003 tiburon v6 was also more than 8 sec compare to others low 7's
I could see no big differences in other makers(acuras, infinity, hondas) records by edmunds w/ other major magazines, but Only hyundais are recording really bad compare to other research companies.
check out Motor Trends test Drive. the coupes ZF auto tranny recorded better performace then manual.

You might want to compare the 370Z with the not-yet-named 2 seater sports car Hyundai is thinking of building as the more appropriate comparison.

Funny how the automotive press test experts never spend anytime on slamming BMW for not including an LSD with the sport package. If our testers feel they don't need an LSD in a 3 or 5 series then what does it matter if one car has a mechanical and the other has a viscous LSD?

In my opinion comparing 2010 Genesis Coupe vs G37 Coupe is right on.
Yes, there is quite a difference in price, but in terms of specifications, contents
and type(2dr coupe,RWD,2+2 seats) these two cars are very similiar. Infiniti G37
wins in refinement, better interior, slightly better engine/drive performance over
Hyundai Genesis.
However, any way you look at it, Genesis will cost at least 8 to 10K less than
G37, with slightly less performance. Isn't this kind of familiar? If you compare
G37 to BMW 3 Series, it's exactly the same! 3 Series have slight edge in
performance over G37, but will cost at least another 8K with similiar equipment.
In terms of long term ownership, especially with longer warranty, Hyundai Genesis
will be more reliable than 3 Series. And it will run with Reg. Unleaded.
Although Hyundai will probably sell more Genesis sedan than coupes, this may
be more of a serious achievment than the sedan model!
For some folks, famous logo/name means more than anythingelse, but this
vehicle seems like a serious contender in its segment.

The Nissan 370Z doesn't matter, huh? With a base price of $30,625, 0-60 in 4.8sec, and .98g it kicks everyones butt. ( Car & Driver April '09 ). I suggest Edmunds do their homework before making rash statements.

If you look closely at the specs page they say the G37 hits 60 in 6.3 secs with the traction control turned on and 5.7 secs with it off. I'm sure that edmunds did not turn off the TC for the Genesis which is why every other website posted significantly better acceleration times.

The 370Z which probably price comparable to the genesis coupe would have dust the Hyundai coupe just like the Infiniti G37 but lost due to the big price difference. Hyundai or Kia (same company) the only few things going for them are their warranties and price. They still lacked the engine, transmission refinement that the established brands have. I owned a Kia Spectra and constantly get dusted off by Corollas and Civics. If you buy a Kia or Hyundai you have to keep the car until they fall apart because their resale values are non existent.

The Z in apple to apple comparo with the Genesis Coupe would still be thousands more expensive. Yes, the Z is faster, but a little over half of a second may be too strong to qualify as "dust the Hyundai coupe".
Still, I personally wouldn't cross-ship the two, one's a two seater (Z) and the other is not.
They still lacked the engine, transmission refinement that the established brands have.
I disagree. The three engines currently housed in the Genesis family is more than compentent: the Tau is one of Ward's top 10; the Lambda and Theta are both well proven. Oh, by the way, on the tranny side, Hyundai uses Aisin (Japan) and ZF (Germany), the same ones many other estabished automakers use.
I owned a Kia Spectra and constantly get dusted off by Corollas and Civics.
The mere mention of Spectra, Corolla, and Civic in terms of speed is oxymoron.

Surely pitting the Hyundai up against the Nissan 370Z would have made more sense?
