College Student researching Outlander by klsmith8

I am about to graduate from college and researching for a brand new automobile the summer after graduation.

I live in Indianapolis, IN and recently went to the auto show to look at all my options in smaller SUVs.

The Mitsubishi Outlander stood out above the others for price, accessories (loved the rear entertainment), and MPG.

I test drove the Outlander in December and I really like it, but I have only owned 2 cars (2003 Ford Focus and 1996 Chevy Camaro Z28) and do not know a lot about SUVs.

Here's what I'm looking for:
Under $30,000
Good MPG
Sporty and not too soccer-mom (although that probably isn't too far down the road!)
SPACE for 2-3 kids (is the 3rd row worth it?)
DURABLE, low maintenance. I don't have the money to be getting things fixed all the time

I have been told to also look at the Subaru Forester as well as the Saturn Vue.

My question for current/previous owners is: is the Outlander the car for me? If not what do you suggest?

Also: I read a lot of forums that talk about towing, I highly doubt I'll be towing anything.

I'd stay away from any Saturn product, at least until after February 17th.

Subaru makes a good product but I don't care for the "look" of the Forester. I know that is not a substantial complaint. It just looks dowdy imo.

I purchased an Outlander SE last July. 4 cylinder, 6 speed CVT auto, 4wd capability, all the bells and whistles except the nav. Love it so far. It's actually been taken over by my wife as her main squeeze.

Not one problem yet. However, if one does pop up the warranty from Mitsubishi gives me a little more peace of mind.

Hope this helps.
