#1 of 2 Replacing Rear Differential on 2 Year Old Forester????
Feb 09, 2009 (5:37 pm)
I recently took my 2006 Forester to the dealer to determine what the sound coming out of the rear axel was. After looking it over, they informed me that I had a faulty rear pinion bearing and needed to replace the rear differential to the tune of $2000. Wow!?!? That certainly didn't make my day. I've had a number of much older, high mileage vehicles in my lifetime and this is a first for us. That's an outrageous amount of money for such a young vehicle repair. Anyone else have this experience?

No, that's unusual. We usually see wheel bearings or gaskets, but not the diff.
Is it under the 5/60k powertrain warranty?
Call 800-SUBARU3 to ask if they will cover it for you.
