Hello,My wife and I do not yet own a Mazda 5, but are seriously considering purchasing one this spring. Only problem is, we will most likely be going on a road trip (a lot of freeway driving) in the summer. Is it O.K. to take the Mazda 5 on our trip or would this interfere with the break in of the vehicle? Can anyone tell me what the requirements are for the break in of the vehicle? Thanks.

There are a few thing that when I break in a vehicle. One remember not to do any hard actions as all the seals and bearings are still not worked in. A lot of improvement has been done in regards to this with newer vehicles but I am big believer in an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The main thing is not to use the cruise control for the first few thousand miles the reason for this are 2 one that you do not want to run the engine at the same rpms for extended time. When I uses the highways I just varied my speed about 15 miles an hour as you are driving that is not to say every few feet lol but to range the top speed to the lowest over several miles. The second it that cruise control can kind of floor it at times to get back to the set speed. I personally did not go over 80 kilometers an hour for the first 500 km and increased my max speed over time as you feel.
It is very very important that you do not have any emergency stops during the first 500 km or so as it will affect the breaks for the life of the car as the seals and valves can be over stressed in the braking system.
A good analogy is to think of having an egg under the gas and brake peddle
