I have a 2000 Ram 1500 5.2L 2-wheel drive with just under 120K miles. I've performed the recommended maintenance every 7500 mile up to 75K. changed oil every 3K -5K miles in the early years and 5K - 7.5K now. The automatic transmission needs to be replaced. I'm trying to decide whether to replace transmission for $2800 (3Yr/80K warranty) or replace the truck. In this economy, I'm reluctant to replace with new vehicle, but wonder what will go next...and how soon. Any advice would be apprectiated.

Not sure where you live but they are still just about giving away new RAMS out here in Austin. Lonestar Edition (not striped down starter truck) RAM for under 15K. For that price, you should buy new if you can get a similar deal.
