97 venture, shifter wont come out of park.

We have a 97 chevy venture with 118k miles. The last three years, when its very cold out the shifter handle on the steering collum gets stuck in park position. Now I dont know if its related to the steering collum or something else. The other day while trying to get this thing unstuck something broke in the steering collum in front of the house. Car is stuck in reverse, cant get key out of collum and cant restart car. I just picked up another collum from local junkyard to fix that first. Any thoughts on why the shifter is getting stuck? Replying to: 66impala (Jan 17, 2009 3:35 pm) try googling it under recalls was looking at the recall list awhile ago and it was on the re call list hope this helps
