Besides being electric, what makes the Volt special? Here are some examples of things I'd like to know: hp, top speed, rpm, cc of the engine, and other things like that on the engine. If there is anything else that you think is special about the Chevy Volt, put it here.

Come to think of it, does an electric engine even have an rpm or horsepower????

Well, your question is confusing, because you originally asked about the engine, which is the ICE. There are descriptions around. But, the "electric" part of the propulsion is a "motor", not an engine. And, electric motors have "rpm & horsepower". In this case, they're variable. GR

This info is not for the Volt, but a work truck or SUV that a company is developing for test by PG&E. They are using a 200 kW electric motor for powering the vehicle. Up to 40 mile on a charge, extended range on a 2.0 L or so ICE to run a generator. Interesting info on something that might be similar to the Volt:

Scheduled to deliver 2 of the demo units to PG&E in March. Don't know if there will ever be any real consumer vehicles...I like the idea, but getting an affordable, working line on the market is another matter.
